I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with -- I just picked up a 2016 TRD PRO 4Runner for my wife. She's using it to commute about 40 highway miles daily. She is the one who picked out the truck, but now she says its a little too tall for her. I'm wondering if there's an easy way to lower it 1-2"? I know, I know… why buy the high performance off-road suspension just to lower it… but I'm hoping even with a little lowering it will maintain most of it's special off-road capabilities.

Sorry Tom but I think you got the wrong vehicle :bounce: I honestly do not think you will get your answer here, I would imagine there will be some sh!t talking with this question lol. Get her some step rails to get in and out with. That'll make a difference and you wont have to basterdize a perfectly good 4runner. best of luck!

man, the 4Runner PRO looks killer in white. From experience I wouldn't make any changes yet, you wife might get use to it and like driving higher.

Take it back and get a different 4runner. The TRD Pro comes with a 1inch lift from the factory. Any other 4runner will be shorter, so she may like it better. If it's still too tall, then she may want to look at a Highlander instead.

Just got back from alignment shop. Installed the 5100s myself and kept the stock springs. Now I gotta get some sweet tires. Any body sell their stock tires? What did you get for them?

Well, its been a couple of weeks and I want to move the fronts to 2.5 and possibly throw a 1" spacer in the rear.

I would prefer a more level look to almost a little reverse rake. Do I need the rear spacer?

front lift 1" higher than rear = body level, no rake, rear fender slightly higher than front
front lift 1.75" higher than rear = slight reverse rake, front and rear fender heights about equal
front lift 2.5" higher than rear = pre-runner style

You may be able to lower it a few of inches by installing shorter springs and shorter tires. An off road specialty shop or a automotive performance shop might be able to do it for you. It won't affect the 4WD function. You will just loose the ability to climb over stuff due to the lack of clearance.

Or you could just slam it!

Tough spot to be in. Easiest fix would be to swap out the TRD Pro suspension with stock SR5 parts. I'm sure you'd find somebody willing to swap with you and send a few $$$ your way.

I'll trade you out my bisltein 5100s (less than 1000 miles)and stock springs for trd suspension. Where you at we can do it in the driveway and swap same day.

I guess I'm missing the problem here - its too tall upon entry/exit or is it the ride height while driving?

looks as though you have the running boards so it shouldn't be entry/exit

swapping out your pro parts would be a huge waste IMHO just to get it to sit an inch lower when you're butts in the seat. the expense doesn't equal the results

I'd suggest test driving a stock SR5 before giving up your TRD suspension - a considerable test drive to really determine what the problem is and if it has anything to do with the ride height
