Lift + towing question???

I'm highly considering a 5 gen 4runner... I am VERY curious about towing with the different lifts I see you guys doing... Is anyone towing after they've done one of these lifts? Are you guys re-gearing for the larger tire diameter? Any feed back would be great. I'm not looking to tow more then 4000 LBS so I don't need an education on over towing in general etc. Just want to find out the effect if any a lift will have on my towing ability and performance... THANKS!

Finally got it installed, extremely satisfied with the quality of the ride. The truck looks amazing. Here are the before and after pictures.

Are you or have you towed at all after the lift??? Do you know your total clearance, approach and descent angles post lift??? Did you re-gear or if not do you think re-gearing would be beneficial at all??? I ask you specifically cause this is the EXACT setup im considering. Down to the tire and all... THANKS!!!

thanks for the compliments guys. i was a bit skeptical if everything would work out the way i envisioned but i am very, very happy so far but still got some other mods lined up.

@ harper7 - it was a big step for me to take and i'm glad i did!

@ egstyle - no problems with the rim width but the front fender well liner needed some minor trimming because of the tires (body mount chop not required!)

Truck looks awesome snow&surf, what kind of wheels are those (they look BA). Great color truck too! Can't believe you got 33X12.50s on without a body mount chop, and I love the new trail grapplers, think that is what my 35's will be

@ i am sam - everyone (including my all my buddies) run the bfg ko and i wanted a different tire. i took the rocker panels off to make the truck look more rugged but am definitely getting sliders. i'm waiting to see what Demello comes out with before i decide (he said he was working on it :reddance

@ autbond - the wheels are Ultra Gauntlets and they fit the 5th gen styling perfectly imo! i was surprised about not having to chop the body mount too with this size tire (also see explanation to 4shore below which may explain why too). all the work was performed by Outlaw Offroad in Orange County, CA and these guys are fantastic! definitely know their craft and all i paid for were the parts, all the install work was free! so far i'm loving the trail grapplers. i was afraid they would be too much meat (E load) for the truck but they're not, especially with the ICON UCAs! 35s would look so sick on your truck, get em!

@ 4shorerunner - i guess i should have clarified a bit more on my thread but i sold my original guantlets (20x9", +18 offset, 5.71" bs) when i sold the hankook dynapros because the guys at Outlaw Offroad said it would be too close to the UCA. this wasn't a big deal for me because i got a super good deal (compared to my first set) for the new wheels (20x9", 0 offset, 5" bs) and i wasn't going to compromise getting any other wheel/tire combo. this is why they stick out more.

all this being said, this is the first time i've modified any of my vehicles and if i could do things over again i would have and done it right the first time with my wheel spec choice but i wanted so bad to get rid of the oem training wheels on the truck. as it is now, i'm extremely happy with how my setup is unfolding so it doesn't matter to me because my wheel/tire/lift setup is complete :reddance: oh, the new offset wheels do not require spacers with this setup, hopefully my mistakes can benefit others here!

How are you liking your Stage 2? I'm running the Icons Stage 3 and it is by far the best mod I've made (and most expensive so far). There was a rediculous thread a while back where a couple of them were arguing about the nose dive. I don't care what anyone says, the suspension lift basically eliminated it. Love the Icons, I've also just recently gotten my sliders from Shrockworks on and I'm fully armed underneath with BudBuilts.... woo hoo!

my suspension has only been on-road (installed Tues). x-reas suspension had some dive/lift when braking/accelerating and there was some body roll when cornering. as you said, the ICONs resolved those symptoms. it definitely firmed up the ride (as expected) but smoothed out the overall feel. the UCAs are monsters and provide great stability at all speeds and control my new tires much better than i expected. i'm very happy i went with ICON and i can't wait to report how my new setup works off-road.

i've been monitoring your build and a few others (harper7, icenomad, egstyle, t4cruiser, and iDRivat4r) which has helped me with my build and i've seen your wheeling pics with icenomad, nice! armor is next on my list. just waiting for Demello sliders to decide which ones i want and he stocks BudBuilt skids which i will most likely get too!

Yea, you can tell it looks really saturated; maybe a little too much editing in some areas

I just changed a couple of the values for shadowing and highlights. Not too familiar with all the Photoshop options that are available. Looked neat though so I posted it.
