Where did you get the material from? I like how it matches the hood scoop. I did the same thing as you did but I used some cheap crap from home depot and I think it looks cheap so I need to re-do it.


Here's mine. I did the lower valance as well. And put some behind the emblem.

I actually like that mesh. I might have to look into doing this for my 02 grille. Nice job.

I like the look of the mesh. But it was just too flimsy.

I bent the gutter guard around the inner most lip of the grill and used some small bolts to secure it. I would take some pics but I traded my grill to another forum member.

I epoxied some pieces of plastic to the back of the grille around the outside edges of the openings. Then drilled holes into the plastic pieces that lined up with the holes in the mesh. Then ran screws into the plastic to hold the mesh.

Makes sense, thanks guys. If I can find a used grill I think I'm going to give it a try.

Ok thanks. How is that stuff? Can it bend easily or is it pretty stiff?

Its stiff enough to hold its own shape, but can easily be bent by hand. It cuts real easy with tin-snips too.

I attatched mine with threaded rod that was epoxied to the inside. Heavier gauge mesh as well.

In the opinions of those with the mod already completed, is there any reason to use anything more "premium" than the gutter guard material at the depot or lowes?

I used the thicker stuff hoping it stands up to road debris better. The thinner stuff may bend if something hits it, and the stuff I used will withstnd pretty much anything. I used the mesh used in plaster lathe walls.

The gutter guard is a good choice, and I got 5 strips for $13.00, but ended up getting an 8 foot by 27" piece of mesh that is used for bonding stucko to houses. The stuff is pretty tough, is mold able, and was even cheaper.... at around $8.00 for the whole piece.

The reason I went with this stuff, was I wanted the mesh to sit inside the grill, not ON the back side of it.

Thanks man! It was definitely time consuming, but I like how the finished product looks! I should have done this mod, a long time ago!

BTW, I love how yours turned out as well..... great addition to your rig man!

quick question, what year grille do i need to be able to make this because mine is this style

if your referring to the style grill that i did then its the 01-02 If you want to do the full satoshi with this grill its gonna take some moderate to hard fab work. Once you cut that center piece out your gonna have huge holes on the sides of the grill.

with what i did, all you have to do is some minor drilling to mount the mesh.
