yes. I've explained this to you already. You can not fit the -38 wheels without doing the BMC, even with stock tires. and especially not with 285's.

Honestly brother, these forums are probably not the best place to draw the most samples.
Respectively, the majority of active posters will be conservative on here and are lurking about car issues or mild mods. There is a handful of serious guys who wheel, or buy into the subculture, but not many will chime in regarding wheel offsets and brands because there are too many variables.
I recommend scouring Instagram, using the #4runner hashtag, then dig deeper into each make and model. Maybe ping those individuals for their experience. Sometimes if you go deep enough, you might see that someone has already asked the same question under the photo comments.
If you’re from Colorado, Arizona, or NorCal maybe find the most prominent group, meet up, or business and go from there. Local guys can be really helpful.
This thread is a good start but just looking out for you: might want to expand your search.

You just saved me so much headache and money with that specific piece of information.
My Nightshade came stock with 245/60R20. I brainstormed about possible wheel/tire combos and thought about how I just don’t want to do a BMC under warranty.
Can I clear a 275/55R20 on stock 20’s with no lift? (Limited having X-REAS).

Thanks, definitely understand. I was dreaming for a minute there hoping for something I clearly cannot do. At least until the warranty is out. I am not sure about the structural affect of a BMC, that’s a whole new topic. LOL. So, I’ve just avoided on my list of mods on each Toyota I’ve owned so far. But, maybe I will jump in some day on it. What really sank in was you mentioning you couldn’t even fit the -38 with stock tire’s. So bummed!

I really appreciate your advice and looking out for me as this is uncharted territory for me. I usually just go for the larger tires and call it a day after a lift. But, was really intrigued to get that wide stance. But, it’s definitely clear that the stance I want is not achievable unless I want to bite the bullet on a BMC and more. I’ve never even heard of the pinch weld mod? Not sure what that is. LOL. I fully understand what the BMC is, just worried about any affects it could have under warranty or long term.

if you do the BMC properly and weld in a plate, there's no long term structural effects. I drove mine offroad for about 10k miles without even doing the plate and it was fine. but I put enough miles on mine that I was out of warranty in a year, so I dont know anything about that aspect.

To add a little info on my experience. I have the TRD Pro wheels with 1.25 spacers and SPC UCA’s on a 18ORP with 285’s. I get rubbing on the back fender well. I took off the mud flaps and still get rubbing on the weld joint behind the mud flaps.
I’ve had the alignment tweaked and still get some rubbing at the extremes. I’ve done the fender liner mod and still get some slight rubbing there from pushing my wheels forward during he alignment. I haven’t decided if I want to keep tweaking or just give up on the wider stance. I’m unwilling to cut into the fame to prevent the rubbing there and my alignment guy says pushing my wheels to far forward will affect the steering to much.

Sorry to hear about that man, points well taken and I can now see how that could become an issue. I really wish there was little more space in there, but I get why a manufacturer would not want to do that.
I may get the courage to go that wide someday, but it looks like for now I am not going to go to the extreme. But man…..it looks sick like that!

Not sure why that comment was necessary. I just wanted to understand what it would take to widen the stance if I could do so without taking on the modifications that I do not want to at this standpoint. I have modified my other vehicles plenty, I’ve just never increased the stance.
