So here is the first post for my 2004 4-Runner Build. This build was prompted by a leaking XREAS strut (112,000 miles) and to upgrade the entire system is going to cost less than to fix 2 of the 4 XREAS struts: not to mention the better ride quality when it's done!

I will add more pics along the way, however these first 2 (couldn't get 2 pics on one post ?!?!?!? so 2nd pic is on 2nd post) show my T4R fully loaded with PUP and when completely empty before suspension upgrade. My airbags are inflated to 20PSI in the pic with PUP. I chose the Toytec Superflex RCC2.0HD as they are a bit taller (2 1/2" vs. 2.0" lift) and stiffer than the RCC2.0. I wanted a little stiffer ride, but not as stiff as the OME 895 is reported to provide based on overwhelming feedback on this forum.

Build date is scheduled for 1/30/2016

Powder build

I have the same model, 04 v8 sport with the xrea and on of my rear shocks is leaking. Parts alone to do both sides is 1,500. with that being said i dont know what to do.

I was quoted 973 before tax to replace 2 (LF and RR) XREAS struts. For under a grand I was able to purchase full OME kit. I'm going to install, but I could have had OME kit installed for around 500.

If your going to drop 1500...UPGRADE!!!!
There are quite a few options to upgrade entire suspension for +-1500. If you read through the suspension sticky you will see than almost 100% of those that replaced XREAS with anything were very happy they did.

Cool build, glad to have found you. I am going through a similar build, but have decided to hold off on the total X-REAS replacement until they die. I really like the way they feel on the road.

I just got a 2006 T4R Sport V8 4x4. Has 122K miles, I plan on using this as a second car. Something to have fun in, go to the beach, and keep miles off my main car.

I bought a 2007 Sport V6 4x4 new and drove it for 5 years. Stupidly sold it 2.5 years ago and have regretted the decision ever since. Now I'm back in one and couldn't be happier. Because it has some miles on it, I want to mod it while still allowing my wife to take it out and not look like a lady lumberjack. I really like the X-REAS and have decided to keep it until it goes out on me like your did. I have already added the 1.5" spacers and the Daystar 2.5/1.5" kit arrives literally tonight. I'm now down to tire size, and figured 265/70/17 in the Goodyear Duratracs are as big as I can go without cutting/rubbing.

So my questions on your build:

-How many miles on your car when X-REAS went out?
-Did you have any rubbing issues with your Daystar/hankook combo? (265/70/17's)
-What tires do you plan on putting on with the OME lift?

I'm sure I'll have more when I get time to catch up on the build in full. I'm in Texas but wife is from CO and we drive up there every year for thanksgiving. She's from Ft. Collins.

-The leak was identified around 112,000. It still drives okay, but the struts need to be replaced.
-No rubbing whatsoever
-I'm hoping to go up to 275/70/17 with no mods, after my current tires wear out. I'd like to run 285/70/17's if they'll fit without mods, but I don't think the 285's will fit in the spare location which could prove to be a major pita if I was to ever get a flat. Probably looking at BFG ATKO 2's or another set of the Hankooks.
