On my Sport model the wheel shroud is held in with some bolts on the wheels flares and then a couple of plastic push in clips, they are black and round with a hole in the middle and they will break. Napa has replacements, they are Balkamp 665-1378 and cost about $5 for a bag of five, save the three left over ones for the second time you have to do this.

Oh I see where you posted it TheDurk, I really wish I had found this thread before I bought it. This is the second time I have had to do the antenna, once back in 2008 and I bought a unit off ebay that worked fine for four years and then now and I experienced this! Oh well, buyer beware they say. Hopefully others will find this thread and avoid these people.

I've always used white lithium grease. I've done surgery on a few in various cars and seems to work fine.
Here is another Ebay seller that does not carry a true OEM antenna... wish I had seen this thread before buying it. Cut the original one shorter and plugged it back in as a manual antenna....

I ordered one a week ago, without seeing this thread of course.
Got it from seller named luffygroup. Will post results. It's coming from Hong Kong, so if it doesn't work I'm calling it a loss of $14 and try again.

If you have a vernier caliper or similar, measure the thickness from top of teeth to back of tailpiece. Above 4mm you are good. Cheapo's are 3.5mm and if that's what yours is don't even bother trying to install it.
My raderra was 4.2mm new and is going strong after just short of three years.

Hey, great to see yours is still going strong. I plan on ordering mine today however I was wondering what do I need to do to install it? My old one just basically came out on its own one day lol.
Am I able to just feed it back in and turn on the ignition and hope it catches? Or do I need to remove the fender and such?

My advice is two options:
1) Forget the Ebay junk. I wasted like $50 on an Ebay replacement antennae. I knew I was in trouble when I opened the package and the first thing I saw was "Made In China".
I wasted about 2 hours of my time trying to get that generic POS (That clearly said Fits 2002 4Runner) that in a rare fit of anger I threw it down my driveway and ordered a Toyota replacement factory antennae.
OR
2) Just go with the whip antennae as others have recommended.
If I had to do it all over again I'd just do the whip antennae and be done with it forever.

Well, you have it backwards. First you turn on the car and the radio to remove the old one (after undoing the crown nut). Then, as long as you got ALL the old one out, you feed in the new one (I forget if its teeth forward or teeth backward) and then turn the radio OFF and it will suck it in. Then replace the crown nut.
If pieces of the oild one are still in there (my case) you have to remove the fender LINING (not the whole fender) and pull the motor and clean the pieces out. There are how-to's around on this.

Mine actually came out in 1 piece, nothing was broken off but it wouldn't go back in. But alright that is great, I'll see if this new one stays in.
And that guy on eBay sold over $12,000 worth of these Antennas....lol

FWIW I am a fan of the power antenna, as it can be retracted while wheeling in terrain where it (or a whip) may otherwise be damaged. I use the "Y" adapter so I can run both rear glass antenna + power antenna. I wired in a dedicated switch (pic below) to be able to raise/lower the power antenna on demand with the stereo still on. In many cases I have found the rear antenna to be adequate and do not even need to raise the power antenna.

Well, sad to report my raderra mast bit the dust today just shy of its third birthday. There is a little plastic collar that engages the antenna nut and keeps the base of the mast inside the fender. It split on one side and the antenna spit the mast out while I was driving. Luckily, I was off-road in a field going slowly, so it was easy to find and identify the problem.
raderra has a list price of $218 for the thing now, which is somewhat bizarre. Anyway, going with an OEM off Amazon for $48. Apparently that collar is supposed to be metal on the OEM. Well 3yrs@$18 is about the same as 12yrs@$70 which was the OEM price when my factory mast died. So you get what you pay for, I guess.
I just put the amazon one in yesterday. the same one you got. And it is Toyota original but the factory original collar is plastic also. I am assuming what I took out was original, and it too had a plastic collar.
had to get to the motor on mine as when I pulled the old mast out, it was only half there.
Had trouble getting the mast to go all the way down the first time, kept putting it up and down a few times then it finally sucked it all the way in
