I have heard that some came with mast antennas but I have never seen one in person or in picture. Maybe you could send a message to one of the parts guys over at IH8MUD that place orders for Lowe Toyota. They actually know about parts. Another option is that you could search for part diagrams online until you find the part number and then do the conversion. It is possible that the 4Runner mast antenna part numbers could be different from those of a Tacoma.
My '97 SR5 has the factory Oak leather option, V6, 5 speed, E-locker, and a working power antenna.
Although I have replaced the mast, once..

This is the 4Runner manual antenna (86300-35090):
86300-35090 - OEM Toyota ANTENNA ASSY, W/HOLD
It's the same one used as the base in the Tacoma whip mod.

Because I do wonder if back then when this generation was the new generation, it was possible to order leather seats, but no power antenna. I know that some other brands allow you to order equipment custom...

Looks like the part number has been found.
Back in the day you could've gotten a base model with the whip antenna and asked the dealer to install aftermarket leather. I have no idea if you could order the leather sport seat package with the base model though. Probably not, since you might as well have bought an SR5.

No I meant could you get an SR5 with just the whip antenna. Edmunds.com says that the power antenna was optional along with the leather seats. So I was wondering if the dealer could order one option without the other.

Its not like your going to order a new 3rd gen 4runner from the factory

I am only asking because I wanna do more research into this.
I did the whip mod yesterday, it's great to be done with that POS power antenna!
FYI, 86300-35090 not longer includes the antenna even though the box is big enough to hold it. I thought the dealer was BSing me looked it up online, they were right.
