power but No ground to the injectors

I have a 1985 4runner 22re I installed into a 1986 Toyota pickup. The issue we are having is that the engine will only run if you hot wire the cold start injector. The 4 main injectors are all good but will not fire…There is power at both sides of the injector plug. I’m guessing that the injectors are not getting a ground signal but, I have not found out why?

Any ideas???

Check for continuity between the ground wire on the injector and I believe the E2 wire on the ecu side of the harness. I am pretty sure that all the ground wires in the engine wiring harness ties in to the E1 and E2 pins. If you have power but no ground... you'll get what you're getting. If you do have continuity, I would try troubleshooting your ECU. In the EFI section of the FSM there are steps for testing the ECU, specifically the pins for the injectors.

I have the truck running but only on 1 and 4 , the 2 center pistons 2 and 3 are not firing… The truck idles rough but runs more smooth with a little gas. I need to figure out why 2 and 3 are not firing.

Did you troubleshoot the ecu and check continuity between the injector plugs and the end of the harness at the ecu?

Yes, it's good...my friend took apart the intake again and found #2 and #3 injector wires not having good connections. we are re-doing the wires now to see if that is the issue.

Yes, much more involved than the 88 4Runner was. The pick up came with no engine but did have a 5 speed trans. We sold the trans and bought a 1985 T4R as a parts truck. The 85 had a 22re with automatic trans and only 83k miles.
We did a refresh of the 22re replacing all seals, new brass freeze out plugs, new timing set, ect, ect.....The engine looks great and now runs great too.

I have a thread started here that I will have to bump back up with the updates and pics.

I don't know how you can get much more in depth than your last one since you cut two bodies in half and spliced them together... pretty much doing a frame off resto

Lol...the 4Runner was a walk in the park compared to the pick up project. The cab and front end sheet metal are all rust free except the hood, the hood was rusted junk.
The truck sat 3+ years in the Florida sun with the engine removed.

I will bring up the pick up thread to update with picas. I love the old Toyota 4Runner and pick up trucks...
