Power source - Sub install 00' limited

Ive got left and right RCA jacks so im good there but i need to find a "best practices" option for powering the sub. Im not looking for "at the moment" options that arent long term worthy.

Im wondering if i could run a wire in reverse to the RCAs and somehow go back into the OE source/harness thats powering the HU. Thanks man

Your post is quite confusing. Are you using an amplifier? If so then your sub will get the input from the speaker wire coming from the amplifier. If you do not have an amplifier then you cannot use your sub off of the head unit because the h/u doesn't provide enough power for the sub.

Yes you can run power to the amp. Your last post asked if you can run power to a sub. You don't really run power to any sub, the sub just gets its signal from the amplifier.

Grab some 0 gauge wire and run it from your battery to the amplifier. Make sure you put an inline fuse in there for whatever the amp is rated for. You can go to a local welding supply store and get some welding wire (power wire) for a LOT cheaper than expensive wire from a stereo shop and it's the same stuff.
 
Wait.... back up you most likely don't need 0 gauge.

Give use a detailed list of what you have, and we'll supply what you need.

I want Amp make and model. and sub make and model.
 
Im looking at

using my JVC Kw500 HU which has L R sub outs, and a low watt powered sub. I'd like to run the sub w/o an amp. Im just looking for some bass to round the sound out. Thanks
 
You need an amp dude. Try pluging your sub up to the wire from your rear door speaker. And thats what it will sound like.
 
Its not worth the trouble your better off getting new door speakers.
Trust me, I have done car audio for years.

I think you're a bit confused. The sub will need an amp of some sort, either a built in amp or a separate amp. You'll need input signal and remote line from the Head unit to said amp. You'll also need to run a power line from the battery to said amp.
 
WTF i never said i had an amp in my post

or that i was considering one. So how did the the text " a sub" be changed to say "the amp"?

A "low watt powered sub" is a sub with a built in amp... That's why I am confused.



To answer your question, what you're trying to do simply shouldn't be done... You can run speaker wire from one of your rear speakers to the sub, but it will sound like utter garbage.

Check out your local craigslist for a cheap amp... It's really the only option...

You cant run a sub from your rear speaker out put the wattage is to low and will blow the sub. 95% of the blown subs I have seen are from low wattage.

Get some JL TRs for the front doors and play with the cross over settings in your deck.
