Please pardon the search ingorance, I have always struggled finding what I need on these online search forums here, tacomaworld, expoportal etc

I have a 95 4x4 t4r 3.slo auto, I am trying to find a good step by step thread for taking off the powersteering pump, at the very least I think I need to replace the o rings,/ get a gasket kit. Want to try this before picking up a refrubished unit.

Anyways, this will be my first real hands on experience with the runner and I need some help.

Even more so I was hoping some one could point me in the direction of the right thread, or help my challanged internet skills

even better if you have done this and dont mind me picking your brain via PM even better

thanks in advance
cheers

I don't know the 3.0 so I can't help you with specifics, but you're going to have probably three hoses to disconnect, maybe a vacuum line or two, the accessory belt (you can loosen it at the idler) and probably four bolts holding the pump itself to a bracket on the side of the block. It's just turning wrenches, nothing to be scared of.

Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons for your truck? You'll want one if you plan on doing your own wrenching.

No, no book yet, it is in the works. I am currently away from the truck for work and trying to get as much research done on it as possible before I get home at the end of the month.
thanks for the pointers.

There's a banjo bolt for the high pressure line and a hose clamp for the return line.
Some have 2 vacuum lines.

A long mounting bolt at the top and a short mounting bolt at the bottom.
A third bolt for adjusting belt tension.

That's it.

And get a Factory Service manual, don't waste $$ on the others.

Just wanted to add that the 2 vacuum lines will help keep the engine from stalling if the pump is under a heavy load. (hard, low-speed turns)

I'm not sure if I could tell you step by step how to do it. but 2 years ago I bought a pump, dug into the job and was done in about 2 hours. There is a vacuum port with two lines on it. Be careful when messing around with it. I broke mine and ended up just splicing them together and plugging the vacuum port with JB weld. Good luck
