[preferably Canadian] 06-09 owners with Auto light, pls advise

Hey guys,

Those of you who owns [preferably the Canadian version of] a 06-09 4Runner with Autolight feature installed, would you please advise how exactly the Auto lights work? I know that Canadian 4Runners all have DRLs. How the lights behave if your switch is set to "Auto" when it gets dark outside: 1) DRLs are turned off and headlights together with sidelights (parking lights) are turned on at once, or 2) DRLS are turned off and first the parking lights are turned on without headlights and then only as it further gets darker outside, the headlights would also be turned on? If yes for (2), when parking lights are on, are DRLs turned off or are they on together with the parking lights and only go off once the headlights are on?

Explanation: I recently installed a Canadian KPH speedometer and also a DRL relay to my 2006 SR5, which is originally from the USA. Now I am going to add the Auto light feature by adding a switch, wire harness and light sensor from a Limited (as described in one of the threads on this forum). When I add the feature, my 4Runner will act just like a Canadian 2006-09 Limited, and in terms of lights it may or not behave slightly different than the USA's version. Now, my country's laws require us driving with DRLs or headlights always on, but not just parking lights alone. So if there's chance that this system turns off parking lights alone at some point, I should not really install it.

I can’t say I use the auto setting very often (would rather have my own control over my lights) but pretty sure it only ever turns on the headlights - ie, never just the side/parking lights.

DRL on the 06-09 runners are the turn signal lights.

Once you are on auto it is like you turning on the light at night yourself.

Once dark enough, it will immediately turn off the turn signal light and turn on your low beams along with your side marker lights/parking lights.
