Are there any other mods, other than the deckplate, electric fan, and ISR, that will help with horsepower and possibly gas milage?

and is there a prefomance chip or programmer for toyotas?

Toyotas do not have a removable rom chip like some other manufacturers ECUs, so you won't find a chip of any sort. At the same time doing a flash like you can w/ OBD2 Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford, Chevy, etc etc etc means that someone has to crack the hexadecimal coding in the ECU, which as far as i know hasn't happened for most toyotas yet. Techtom has a couple applications (MR2, Supra Type cars), but often you have to install a daughter board inside the ECU case.

Now moving on to what you can do is install a piggyback device. The simplest of this is the AFC. I usually will not recommend the APEX box, but for NA it will work okay. Just be aware that because it alters the MAF signal when you tune the air fuels, it will change the ignition timing as well.

I have absolutely no idea what anything you just said means.

The reality is there's not much you can do short of supercharging to get noticeable power gain from the 3.4 for a reasonable price.

Actually the URD map ecu2 is bomb. Theres almost nothing I cant adjust. I also swapped out my MAF with a Supra MAF and that was a pretty kick ass mod. Something else you should do since you have the intake mods is throw on either a thorley cat back system or at least a vortex muffler. Ummm, whats your budget? I could throw a bunch of performance mods at ya but they're not cheap. You could do a lightweight aluminum driveshaft and the URD crankshaft pulley. Both of those dont add HP to the motor but to the wheels. Both of those made quite a noticable difference but the driveshaft will run ya about $600 and the URD pulley is $300.

By the way, i remember a while back you asked if there was anyone who made fiberglass fenders for t4r's and I just recently checked out Downey Offroad and found out that they make fenders now. They make some killer headers too.

I'm still curious to see what Matt will run at the strip pretty soon since even alot of money into mods might not net the results you'd expect for the money invested so be smart about how you mod.

Matt,if you run a 16 second 1/4 mile I will be truly impressed since that would shave off over 2 seconds off of my stock 1/4 mile time at Bandimere. I've seen a SC'd last gen Tacoma run a mid 16 with just an exhaust being the only other mod.

A 3rd gen 4Runner starts out pretty slow so you could invest alot of money and still not even be able to sniff a RAV4's or a new Tundra's exhaust fumes.

is this what you are talking about? http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.php?products_id=1260198051

looks like a split second box to me, and again probably would work okay for NA for a reasonable budget. I still prefer the more expensive options out there that come w/ the ability to completely tune the engine for my personal vehicles.

Yeah i want to do gears!
one of my friends has a 5.29s i think they are in her 2WD 2006 tacoma, is that legitimate or just ridiculously and unnecessarily high?

Jet performance also does ECU mods but you have to send them your ECU for them to crack open and reprogram. IF you have other mods and let them know they can program it based on that. Other mods available for the engine are from LC engineering but those are internal engine mods and get real expensive fast. I also agree that who bought a 4Runner for power got the wrong car, be happy with the reliability and capability. That being said a little extra HP where you can get is nice.
