The best tires for a bug out scenario are a good pair of boots. Would recommend cardio + weight training exercises daily, 6 days a week. :cowboy:
LPC's FTW!

Escape Florida using dirt roads? How possible is that? He's gonna be stuck in traffic with indestructible tires! ;-)
I worked on the Gulf Coast after Katrina. Every form of debris and road/tire hazard you can imagine remained for weeks (in some areas months).
Yes I have a tire patch kit (and good tires). Tire patching can only do so much.
What most of you are suffering from is called "normalcy" bias. You should look it up. "It could never happen here" are famous last words. The person who buys personal flotation devices for their home and vehicle that lives on an island seems kookoo until there's a tsunami inbound and people are offering fortunes for anything that might help them.
Sure, I could buy a trailer and bring extra tires, but that solution seems a bit crude.
i get it, i have "preps" too at the house and in our vehicles but i don't know what you are expecting anyone to tell you about tires beyond carrying a patch and plug kit and compressor.
you can actually patch and plug some pretty gnarly damage, i've even seen a tire sewn back together with wire and stuffed with a bunch of patches and it held air in a tire plugging class i took.
i also recommended a bead breaker, you need to learn how to dismount/mount a tire to repair serious damage and spares without rims are a lot lighter to carry (steel wheels i guess would be another recommendation then because mounting tires yourself with a bead breaker tool is going to tear up your alloy wheels)
just get good tires, get road damage insurance for them if you want, and carry the tools recommended.
none of the heavy equipment or tractor solutions will work for a highway vehicle, you can't add 50lbs of foam per tire on your daily driver.
you could also see if there are any run flat tires that fit, those usually let you drive at low speed for 100+ miles
The OP is in South Florida so bugging out to escape a hurricane is a very real possibility .
In a pinch, one could probably make due and figure it out, but swapping the tires isn't the problem, it's getting them to seat and inflate which would be the most challenging part.
So does rolling around the concrete jungles of Miami every day on solid tires. I get that part of the whole prepper thing is a mental exercise but practically do you really want to have a compromised daily driver for the unlikely "bug out" event? Maybe you want the look but do you REALLY want to be going to the grocery store and out on the highway always ready to "bug out" at a moments notice? Seems to me that a bug out trailer is infinitely more elegant. Daily drive a daily driver then when the time comes just attach the trailer.
When it comes time to evacuate from a hurricane you're just going to be sitting on I-95 or the Turnpike with everyone else. And if you manage to get a break in traffic you're going to want to be able to haul-ass, not crawl along on the shoulder at 50mph on your solid tires
People do it off road all the time. There are several possible techniques. Isn't "in a pinch" exactly what we're discussing here?
Rather than lug around replacement tires or spend time looking for a set to steal or salvage, wouldn't it be a great solution if you could have a compressed/canned inflation medium in your rig that you could simply fill up the damaged tire to keep you going (for an extended period of time) till you could figure things out?
Consider a sidewall puncture, which virtually NO patch or plug kit is going to remedy and you're either far away from help or any typical tire store/help is shuttered and you still need to keep going.
. So if one were say, hundreds of miles from help/civilization/tire replacement and had already run out of viable patching solutions....

.My favorite thing about the pepper industry is the amount of 300+ lb people spending real money on prepper supplies when getting in shape would be a much better investment
