Prices paid on a TE recently?

I'm guessing based on your quote, that it is a limited RWD with Nav, 3rd row and extras (cargo cover, mats, wheel locks, etc.)? Which dealer offered you 300 under?

yeah, exactly 3rd row with all the bells and whistles, NAV, moonroof, etc....but I ran my own search and there's only two black limiteds in the entire north and south LA area on the lots right now...
 
I wanted the TE with factory Sat Nav mostly for the larger back up camera. I have 2009 Limited Rav 4 with nav and Toyota nav sucks sweaty donkey dong. But none to be found in So Cal in a TE.
 
I see 3 balck limiteds at Longo Toyota. Are you only looking for something specific like black/black, limted, rwd, nav, 3rd row?

how are you searching? i went to the longo site.

BTW, the moonroof is standard on LEs. I believe the only options are Nav and 3rd row. Special color is another option, but that comes with white.

Just checked Manhattan Beach. They have a blk/blk, LE, rwd, nav, 3rd row according to their site. They even have an LE without 3rd row — first I've seen locally.

Paid $38.5k + tax this weekend for KDSS/Nav/carpets, but they gave me a great deal on the trade-in. It actually worked to take the old car to CarMax first for an appraisal and use that up the dealer's trade-in offer - the CarMax person must have been in a real good mood since it was Friday...

Wow, that's almost $2k OVER invoice. Is it that hard to get deals near Durham on 4Rs?
 
Probably could have done better, but they gave me $2k more than I think my trade-in was worth so I figured it was a wash. CarMax in MD has the same TE for $37.8k but I didn't want to deal with a trip up there.

The supply of any 4runners in the Southeast seems pretty limited though.

If the 4R is popular and in short supply, it sounds like you did well. I didn't realize that NC is part of the bend over and take it with no gel SE region and subject to the extra $925 charge.

If you purchased it MD, would you have any headaches registering in NC? Doesn't sound like it was worth the hassle. I would have done the same.
 
I took another look out of curiosity. At the moment, assuming the dealer inventory searches are accurate, there are 15 TE scheduled for delivery to the Southeast region (whatever that is) over the next 2.5 weeks, and none are available now. My new one may have been the only TE actually on a lot around here, not counting the Carmax (and Fitzgerald) ones in MD.

What annoyed me the most was having the pay for Nav to get KDSS in this area. Wish I still lived in CO where that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried to special order one before but they quoted me a price of $500 under MSRP.
 
It sounds like the hassles of buying at the places in MD and registering in NC aren't too bad, and no duplicate sales tax, etc. but I got lazy.

Right you are. And here in Colorado I had to special order to get NAV in my new Trail. Last Saturday I popped by and they had 6 or 7 Trails - two salsas, two greys, a silver, black. I looked at 4 of the stickers and they were all the same, adding just KDSS and carpets.
 
Trail price

Just paid $37500 for Salsa red in Meadville Pa. Trail had KDSS with the navi and mats. MSRP $40800. Out the door with Ohio 6.5% and docs $40250. It took a little haggling but salesperson was good. They had 2 trails on the lot.
 
Purchased 2010 Trail Earlier in July

Paid about $38,124 with Nav and KDSS. This was close to the Edmunds "what others are paying price", about $150 or so above. Traded in 2009 Camry which was worth about $4000 more than we owed. Dealer had it coming in while we were looking at other 4Runners, so I placed a $500 deposit on it, sight unseen. Wanted Nav and cloth seats for my GSD and this was the only way to get them. When I saw the pathetic Dunlop tires on it, I complained to the sales manager and he agreed to replace them with my choice, Firestone Destinations. Probably cost them $600 or so I could add on my side of the ledger. Only have about 700 miles on it, but pleased so far.
 
I paid 34,300 for my Trail...no Nav or Kdss (you need to buy one to get the other) Got wheel locks, mats, etc
 
Truecar is OK for some things but they are wrong on the Trail Editions. They require you to get NAV with KDSS in Colorado but that's not true. Sure in some markets you have to get both but not here so they still need a few tweaks but overall it's pretty accurate.
