Probably a simple solution. (ignition problem)

I have a '95 4wheel standard transmission. It won't start MOST of the time. When I turn the key into the ignition position nothing happens. If while holding the key in the ignition position and I turn the steering wheel hard to the left or right it will sometimes crank right up. Turning the wheel engages the starter. Only sometimes though. It's gotten to the point now where it never works. What would this be? Something between the key and the starter in the steering column, I would imagine. Please help.

make sure you press the clutch in all the way. than have someone check the signal wire at the starter to make see if you have a signal (voltage) when you turn the key to start. if that checks out. might just need to change the brushes in the starter

Another possibility is the clutch interlock switch going bad. Have you tried using the clutch bypass switch on the far left of the dash--this is designed to override the system, allowing you to start in gear on the trail without using the clutch pedal. The ignition switch could also be bad, but this seems pretty rare on these. Best of luck!
