Problem playing music through iPhone using bluetooth

I have an iPhone 4s and have been able to use bluetooth for the past year no problem (calls, music, etc.)

But for the past few weeks, every time I try to play some tunes from my iPhone using bluetooth, the spinning disk that says "please wait" just spins around forever and the music never plays. From everything I am able to see, the phone is recognized by the truck...just no luck with music being able to play. Calls work fine though...

Tried just plugging the phone in to the USB port, but the AUX and USB buttons don't light up on the screen to be able to use that either...

Pretty frustrated, especially with a 10 1/2 hour drive coming up Friday...not having podcasts/any of my favorite tunes will make the ride take a lot longer.

Anybody able to successfully troubleshoot a similar problem??

Have ya tried a separate USB drive with tunes on it?? That would atleast get ya through your 10 hr. drive..

This won't help fix the BT problem, but does the TE have an AUX input? My LE has one. If I ever have issues (rare), I patch in a small three foot long 1/8" to 1/8" audio cable.

Just a thought. It'd make the 10 hours tolerable. You could still listen to your tunes, just not streaming via BT.

Haven't tried that but will definitely consider doing that...only problem is my USB doesn't seem to want to recognize anything

That's a great idea, Joel! I might need to make a run down to an electronics store and pick up a cable...Gotta get some Xmas gifts there anyway...

I'd suggest rebooting the iPhone and then try again. Can the audio receiver be rebooted...disconnect a battery terminal or pull the fuse for a minute?

can you try another phone and see if it works?

Then try unsync-ing your phone, and if all fails, try making a Itunes backup of your phone, then erase all content, and reinstall the backup. Got a lot of bugs fixed like that.

I think they came with three different versions. But, no matter. Have you tried re-syncing the bluetooth? Also, remove it from your phone then remove it from the 4runner, shut the iPhone all the way down then power it up and go about resetting up the bluetooth audio. If I remember correctly, at least on my TE with the most basic audio system the Bluetooth for calls and for music playback are separate and must be configured individually.

If all else fails, the 3.5mm lead might work. However, that requires the use of the AUX button, and you stated that yours does not work?

Bluetooth and the Music Player are unrelated. In that one does not require the other to function. So if your issue is playing music, and it's not playing through bluetooth or USB; but, you can place calls through BT, then the problem is probably your iPhone. Have you updated it recently? Or is there an update pending on the device? No other iPods or MP3 Player in the house to try out the USB function on your truck?

The same thing happened on my wifes car with my iPhone 4S. I erased the phone back to factory settings, loaded my save file from itunes and the phone worked again with the car.

Sometimes I have a similar problem, It works fine then the next morning I get in my truck and hit the AUX button to start playing songs via BT. The screen says "BT Audio Not Found" and when this happens my calls don't work either. But then I reach my destination and get back in truck to return home and magically it works?!?!?!?! WTF

I have an 2010 SR5 with regular audio system.

Since this has started happening I've gotten a new phone and it still does this from time to time.
