Problem with a Bilstein Shock, what is step up in quality

The new ones are installed and vehicle has been test driven; of course it handles superbly. Wish my 2012 Toyota could be made to handle more like the 1999 ml 320. No nosedive with the Bilsteins just a slight dip even when pressing brake hard enough to activate the ABS pump.



Note this vehicle does not even have springs up front.

C'mon Ron. That's like saying "I wish my ML 320 could be made to handle like my Corvette Z06." Apples and oranges dude. If you want handling, get a Porsche or BMW SUV. They are very capable machines. The 4Runner is not a CUV nor will it handle like one. It sounds like you are wishing for something that does not exist: An Off Road Machine that handles like a BMW M5. No matter what springs you put on it you WILL NOT EVER get that performance out of a 4Runner.

This would not be the first time. I've just always figured if you put enough effort into a project and throw enough money at it I can make it happen.

Of course the throwing money thing has to have it's limits.

Frankly I was thinking to use bilstein 5100s, would need to know spring rate of stock coil, and then have one made based on rate I want to increase it over stock rate. Bilsteins would not be used to raise vehicle. I'm thinking a good custom spring would make a big difference. Just saying.

That's not how you order a custom coil. You need the OEM part # and then you tell the spring maker what u want different. Ask them for recommendations and listen to them. I agree it will make a big difference - But, I don't think it will give you what you are hoping for.

I found myself in a similar situation a couple of years ago. I thought I needed another sedan since I only had one. Well I bought a new Avalon. To make it short I could not get used to front wheel drive and sloppy handling, Sold it.

Well I think I finally found sedan I like and I bought it a few months ago. It's a 2014 Corolla S and I think it's great so far.

It seems the only cars I have for a long time are Porsche and Mercedes. Unfortunately the new ones are very complicated electronically, for me and while I have a wholesale account to buy part they can still be real expensive.
