Programming Instructions for keyless entry remote?

I did see a factory installed system near the ignition lock cylinder. I believe it is a RS3000 but not sure. Mine is a 2000 SR5 4WD. I have the Toyota "VIP" stickers and security light on the dash as well. I have 2 FOBs that I believe to be incorrect aftermarket and 2 that are Toyota exact replacements with the same FCC numbers. All new batteries.

It's starting to make a little more sense except that my old remote that used to work has the FCC ID: HYQ1512Y number on the back. Even with a new battery, it doesn't put out any signal so I'm pretty sure it's dead. The two I bought online have the same number. I found some pics online and I believe my system is either the RS3200 or RS3200+. I don't remember seeing a "learn" button but there was a small knob for the GBS. I'll have to check when I get home tonight.

Still Stumped

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I may have to break down and take it to the dealership. I looked under the dash and found a 2 gray boxes. One appears to be the glass break sensor and the other is bolted in a is maybe the RS3200? Ran the "delete everything" 5 turn mode and got the appropriate response from the vehicle but still can't program the remotes. No response. May try to disconnect the battery for 10 or 15 minutes tonight to see if something resets. Is anyone aware of situations where the FOBs have to be programmed by a computer?

This was a large pain. I got the correct remote - HYQ1512Y - off ebay. Every time I tried the programming steps I got either two or three cycles instead of one when I tried to enter the remote. Gave up and came back today with a new battery. Same result. Did the on/off five times to clear everything and same result. Finally tried hitting the Lock/Unlock and then Lock for less than a second each and it cycled once and was good. No clue why it suddenly worked. If anyone runs into this maybe try the quick lock/unlock then lock instead of one/two seconds.
Also let me second the rec to use a key in drives lock. Makes it much easier on 20 year old actuators to do this

It took me 2 months of trying on my 2001 4runner to get programming to work.
The other night got mad at work went out in truck to cool off, decided I was not going back in until I got my 2 new FOB to program. on 3rd try it worked.
Been doing same thing for 2 months when I have time, never could get it to start programming mode, but it all of a sudden worked.

Maybe being old truck and worn/slow lock motors it may take awhile...or it is really sensitive to timing of sequence and if too fast or too slow it wont work?
Keep trying...lol

in the process of reconstructing a trashed 3rd gen and adding some remotes that didn't come with it are on my list. been trying to get in to programming mode on and off for about 6 weeks. I guess the forum motto is just keep trying. it should work eventually.

It worked for me when I helped the lock on the second round of cycling the locks. I just helped it up and down and it worked. I was so surprised that I couldn’t find the actual fob.

not sure what else to do,
tried it faster, tried it slower, tried assisting the locks manually, tried the locks manually without the switch,
this is starting to sound like a bad date.
think I tried 2 or 3 other programming modes from other searches that also say they are for 00 4runner, that didn't work either.
might try the 5 key switches that is supposed to wipe out all remotes. maybe it wont go to program if program mode is already full?

I tried numerous different methods (helping the locks, number of ignition key switch turns, etc.), and the ONLY thing that worked for me was to USE THE KEY IN THE DOOR to cycle the locks counting one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand....10-one-thousand, each turn of the key (5 cycles).

I did the 5 ignition key turns to clear out all the codes and removed the key and the locks FINALLY responded! I closed the door, and then started over, again using the key in the door to cycle locks, and did TWO ignition key cycles removed the key, and the locks responded, and then I was able to program two remotes as the instructions state, and then I closed the door. ALL WAS GOOD!

Hope this makes sense, and for anyone struggling with this, I would highly recommend USING THE KEY IN THE DOOR TO CYCLE LOCKS!

I tried the programming setup my keyless. The problem I'm having is when I do the 5x unlock/lock sequence the latch on all the doors stays in the lock position at 3x. I never realized it did this till I tried to program my keyless. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Could it be the actuators?

It's not uncommon for people to have that problem. Just manually aid the locks when you are cycling them and you should be able to get it to work.

Your advice worked!! Also, the instructions said to make sure all remaining doors are closed when trying to program. What it didn't say to also locked the doors too. Once I did that, I was able to program my keyless. Guess it's doesn't matter to some to have the doors unlocked or locked, but it did with my.

1999 4 Runner Door Locks and Key Fob not working

Hi all - I have read through all the threads about weak door locks, manually aiding the locks, using the key, etc, but can't get programming mode to work, or possibly the lock motors are so bad I can't tell if it is even in programming mode as the power cycle on the driver door fails after the 2nd cycle.

Where is the wireless receiver in the car? is there a way to test that?

And how about rebuilding / replacing the door actuators?

Just picked this one up used so no history of the key fob working

Yea mine doesn't have that much range either. Have to double click that shit so much to unlock lmao. Even with new battery same thing. I did notice I have to change the fob battery every 2 years ish
