Progress report

I'll keep this short, because nobody is more sick of this topic then me. However, for any of you are still interested in the progess being made with the harmonic vibration at highway speeds by toyota, the latest info that I recieved from them is that a fix is still in the works. This info came from a factory rep. that they sent over to inspect my 4runner. He agreed with me that there is indeed a problem and has sent the info to their headquarters. He also said that the more of these cases they see the faster they are to act. So if anyone else out there feels like calling the customer service hotline and filing a complaint, please do.

The factory rep. also pulled down my headliner to try to find the stupid sunroof rattle. He said he found all sorts of strange things up there. But so far the rattle is gone.

Thanks for listening; thats it for me.

I've got an excellent relationship with the service manager of the large dealership I go to and last week, the regional manager (head of service/warranty) told him that Toyota has spent the money on the fix for the Lexus' vehicles 'because they cost a lot more than the 4Runner's.

Unfortunately, he also said there is no planned fix for the 4Runner in the near future.

My 2007 V8 4Runner also has the resonant vibration at 1800 rpm's, starting at 1500 and extending to 2100 approx.

This from the Regional Manager who has read and heard virtually everything direct from Toyota's warranty dept and the consumer.

Count me in the list of people who has already filed a formal complaint with the Regional Service manager for this. I was so close to getting the local service guy to do the Lexus TSB for it but no dice in the end. So I had the local service manager set up a meeting with the regional guy when he was in town next and I filed the formal complaint with him. Did he use this paper to wipe his a** with later, who knows, but he sent me a follow up letter stating he sent this too Toyota. But a alas, at least it is getting warmer out and the harmonic vibration is not as bad as when it is cold out. Pretty sad that I have to say that though.

I'm blessed since I hear nothing on my 06 sport.

I guess my main concern in general after being here of about a year and a half or so and reading about all kinds of complaints , is that Toyota does not seem to have any less problems than its domestic vehicles.

I hope you guys get this problem fixed. If I had that driving me nut ( which it would ) I would not pick up the truck from the service dept. until it was fixed.

If nothing else I would keep taking it back and taking it back again & again , if the same problem didn't get fixed , I probably would look into the law for help.

The fact that Toyota acknowledges its there and is only working on a fix for the Lexus version is BS and shows you what they think of your problem and the Toyota owner compared to the Lexus owner , same thing with the rear end "thunk clunk".

Disappointing ...........

I remember reading several messages on this a while back, but don't remember what was determined to be the source of the vibration -what is it?

Also, I'm hopeful if enough call on the thunk-clunk, we may now get some action (call Toyota Customer Experience Center

The factory rep. said that Toyota believes that the vibration has to do with a chain in the front differentail. He did seem like a pretty cool guy but who knows, he could have just been blowing smoke. I'm just going to keep hounding them until my lease is up. I envy any who do not have this problem.
