I just removed the carpet and have not replaced it as of yet. Right now I'm used a shade/cover I found in a junk yard in another SUV.
My OEM strip kit goes on Monday I am also having the windows tinted.

One thing that has proven to be the most difficult part of my restore has been the front seats. I have a mint set of SR5 rears and have been trying to get a match set for the front. I have spent a lot of time and energy on trying to find that perfect set of SR5 fronts but have been unsuccessful. I did find a pretty nasty drivers seat in Tampa for $30 bucks that was usable/repairable.
After about an hour with a pressure washer cleaning the seat and a week for it to dry, I disassembled the seat. I media blasted the frame and painted everything I also rebuilt the seat spring using stainless steel spring wire. I retied the spring with jute twine and used painters tape to wrap the ties.
I took the seat to an upholstery shop to have the seat reassembled and some needed foam work done. All in all the seat came out pretty good.
I bought a passenger seat off a fellow member here and had it shipped but when I put it next to my drivers seat it did not match, the seat was from an 87 and the pattern in the center seat material was not the same.
Well...it was back to Craig’s list and Ebay….Found a 1988 up for sale about 40miles from me on Craig’s list. After talking with the guy on the phone I made a deal to trade my passenger seat for his.
The truck was in a field and was in sad shape but it did have a matching seat to my drivers seat. The seat was nasty dirty but not torn or ripped so I took it!! along with a trade for the radio bezel and a trade for a front corner light. The radio bezel was pretty much mint and was un-cut and the corner light was also in great shape and was much better than my painted silver (to look like chrome) light. I left $75 bucks light and had a matching seat and a few needed parts to boot, great day!!
I pressure washed the newly found passenger seat the same as I did the drivers but with less than satisfactory results. The seat still looked dirty and there was damage to the fibers from a dog or something scratching in the seat. I let the seat dry a week and then did some repair work to the cable setup and painted the under side. I called Stanley Steamer a carpet and upholstery cleaning company to come out and steam clean all the seats in the truck. They did a great job and got the passenger seat as clean as it can be.
I’m not sure if I want to spend the money to re-foam the seat because of the fiber damage so I installed it as it is for now

I sold my rear seat side panels (first pic) and installed my new rear seat side panels.
Both are SR5 panels but the first pic is the panels used in the rigs equipped with power windows. These panels will have a matching set of door panels with the molded power window/door lock switches.
The new panels I just installed are used with the SR5 trucks that have crank windows (like mine) and with power window (port option) that has just a box style add on power window option.
I striped the chrome finish off the trim that runs the length of the panels because it was badly peeling. I am going to re-chrome the trim using chrome pin stripe……stand by for pics

Not to dredge up a slightly old thread, but your work has been awesome man!
I totally agree with your mindset of going with an older, restored vehicle as opposed to a very expensive new one. I was totally stoked when I found my 2nd gen 94 in near pristine condition that I bought it even though it lacked 4wd. People think I'm nuts for driving around a 17 yr old truck until I tell them: a) it's paid off b) it's clean and pristine and c) this is what I paid, how much was yours again? lol
I have to get some of the info on these local shops you have been using. As you pointed out in one of my posts before, we are rather close to each other with me being in New Port Richey.
Also, any idea where to find that mylar/dense foam around here? That stuff looks great and with the cost and PIA factor of dynamat I would really rather go with that for when I do the rear area soon. I have looked and can only come up with thin mylar insulation which I imagine would do fine for heat but squat for db reduction.

The mylar foam stuff is a product used in large semi trucks on the sleeper cabs. You maybe able to get it from a truck dealer or shop that outfits big rig trucks.
I'm working on a 1986 eXtra cab pickup truck now for my son. It is another big job I'm sure will be fun and look great when finished

Well I got my 6x9's mounted today using your ideas.. Thanks for sharing the pics I'm very happy with the install, not as clean as yours.. but very sturdy and definitely got the job done ! The Previous owner had cut holes in the removable cargo panels for these speakers when i bought it. So i bought new panels, and a jack.. because that was gone too. 
however when I bought the Jack it didn't come with a Hooked rod.. So I'm on the hunt for one of those. I did leave the space for the Rod when I did finally get one though cheers!

A new home!!!
I'm now the very happy new owner (well, my 15 year old daughter "thinks" she owns it)!!! It will be her first vehicle, and she has wanted one for quite a while. I had an 87 sr5, and wished I never got rid of it.
Last Tuesday, I spoke with Puddy on the phone on the way to the dealership, and he answered a ton of questions for me. After a bunch of phone time with the dealer about price and things,I worked out a fair deal for both of us, did the paperwork, and gave them a check. No sooner than we left the lot, we hit a hail storm... Fortunately, no damage was done during that storm, or the second one that hit us later that evening. Such a torrential downpour, and not a drop of water inside. I did get a set of factory wiper blades, and slapped them on for the long drive home. I debated on driving, tow dollying, or trailering it back, and we decided to drive (my wife would drive the LX, since im the only one in the house that can drive a 5 speed).
Wednesday morning, we loaded up my LX-450 and the 4R, and started back home to NC. Temps in the mid-upper 90s, and I was running with the air on either low, or switched off. I highly recommend finding that insulation, it's awesome. Ran 65-70 all the way to Savannah for the night, then got the rest of the way home on Thursday. Averaged mid 20's for MPG, and it never missed a beat.
600 miles home, and another 200 running around town. How many people can say that about a 23 year old vehicle?
Minor tweaks and projects planned are installing a noise gate on the radio to eliminate a bit of electrical whine, baselining all fluids, and repadding the passenger seat(it is a bit rough hitting the metal bolsters). Maybe a softtopper for the spring, and a marine carpet kit with some additional noise dampening in the cargo area floor.
My daughter thinks she just won the lottery. She took a bunch of pics (every state line, probably every mile of the drive), and is already starting her logbook.

Congrats on getting the rig, I'm glad you got it and am very happy that your daughter is getting a great T4R:reddance:
Get a set of good rock sliders for the truck they will serve as very good side impact protection. A rear (Back to the Future) tube bumper and front brush guard will also help keep her safe. I am doing these mods for my son on our 86 eXtra cab pickup build.

Every time I would go by the place the old man would put me off (A-Hole) but his kid wanted to do the job.

This is perfect! I'm putting 6x9s in the back if mine, you just used regular ply wood to put them in? And how did you repaint the roll bar with out getting it everywhere? Sheet plastic?
Just removed the roll bar, only had 4 bolts if I recall

since this thread is back to the top now, does anyone know what the part number or name is for the black trim that is in front of the rear wheel? The mud/stone guard. Puddy said he was able to source it from Toyota a few years ago, I want to see if that is still the case.
