Q's New Camper

I've had an A-frame camper on my wish list for a very long time, well today I finally bought one. :biggrin2: :reddance: :banana: :bravo: :bigok:

It's a 2013 Rockwood A122BH and IMO the thing is pretty sweet!!!

Some of the options: 10k btu cool cat heat pump (HVAC unit), 20k btu forced air gas furnace, 6 gal water heater w/outside shower, outdoor hanging grill, 3 Way 2.5 cu. ft fridge, porta potti, electric brakes, spare tire w/mount, AM/FM radio/CD player w/ in and outside speakers, cable tv ready, full size microwave, 3 burner stove, 12v water pump, CO detector, front cargo deck w/ removable railing, 2 20lb propane tanks, all the appliances are stainless and lots more!!

Also as part of the deal the dealer threw in a Tekonsha Prodogy P3 brake controller w/ 2011 4runner harness (no need for the oem plug thats in the glovie) and an extended warranty :thumb3: Only thing I'm not to keen on is the mattress, seems like they really cheaped out on it. I'll give it a try but i'm thinking a nice Sealy/Simmons or the like will be replacing it.:boink:

It will tow it just fine. I pull my 10ft loaded down to around 3000#, plus generators, gas, and all kinds of the girls crap loading down the truck without any issue. You get used to high RPM going through the mountains, but she'll take it :whipping2

Nice camper, I like the storage deck on the front. You won`t have any issues towing that camper. I would suggest adding a set of Air-Lift 1000 air bags to the rear springs, it made a huge difference on towing my A122. I also added n aux. trans cooler, but I pull my camper through the mountains a lot.

1920lbs dry with a GVWR of 3277lbs and a tongue weight of 277lbs. After much research though I'm pretty sure the tongue weight is going to be about 410-420lbs so I've ordered the Airlift 1000 bags for the rear and should have them on Tuesday. Also I'm pretty good at traveling lite so i'll do my best to stay away from that 3277lb mark. 2500-2600 is probably a good goal to aim for.

Yup I already love it and I don't even have it home yet!

My buddy has a 7 or 8k generator, actually forget the wattage but it's a cheapy HomoDepot mid size, I'm gonna ask him if I can borrow it for the weekend. I'll definitely buy my own...probably for a Christmas present to myself . At work we have a bunch of the smaller Honda's similar to TitanPats and they are very nice generators! Very quiet too so pretty certain thats what i'll go with.

Thanks!! Yup was posting at the same time, bags on the way! Also will definitely be adding the tranny cooler and a Scanguage to monitor trans temps but that'll be after the weekend in Va. Looks like 12psi is right on...depending on whats in/on the cargo deck.

Are you running lift coils in the rear or still spacers? If coils where did you cut the bump stops at? do the mate up with the bags or is there a space between? Also can the valve stem be put up top so there is less of a chance of stretching or breaking the air lines?? Got any pics of your bags installed?

I work for United Rentals and we carry those silent Honda generators you referenced and we're always selling them used for cheap. Let me know when you're ready to buy one and I'll try and track down a good one for you. I won't make anything off it, other than gladly helping a fellow T4R member. :bigok:

This is a good site for any questions or issues dealing with your A122, the a-frame section is located near the bottom of the site.

You will love camping in your new a-frame, the heated mattress is nice in the fall/winter.

A few things you may want to look at.

Potti, sits higher and works a lot better than the one supplied.

Shower/Privy Shelter - This thing is well built and is quick to set up.
Trekker Fold-A-Privy, Showers, Toilets, & Accessories, Camp Essentials, Camping : Cabela's

-Yamaha or Honda generator. They are quiet and reliable.

-I have a 22'' cheap flat screen tv/DVD combo. that fits the camper perfect.

-Plastic storage tubs for your camping gear.

-Cordless drill for the stabilzer jacks.

There is other stuff, but I figure this may help you out some.

How much?! How much power does it generate?? Might take one for the house for when the Zombies come and the state decides to shut off power

They have two different model Honda 2000ie...one is just a regular 2000 watt generator, but the Companion model has a 30 amp twist lock, and a kit to piggyback both together. That's the system I use at home.....and only in the winter when I use the furnace , fridge and lighting.

The bigger RVs also use the 30 amp twist lock iirc.

Mayberry's has about for the units.
