quality replacement parts

My 1999 4Runner needs some work, brakes & a new front catalytic converter. I have googled replacement parts but obviously what returns is mind numbing. Any suggestions for a site that sells QUALITY replacement parts. My local parts store quoted rotors @ $30.15 each & pads @ $32.18 set. Both sound cheap. I'm guessing made in China.

For the brakes, parts store stuff is fine if you get their top-of-the-line items. I used Advance Auto's rotors and pads on a friends 4runner, and they work great.

For the catalytic converter, you're going to be looking at LOTS of $$ for an OEM replacement. I personally would never pay for an OEM one. Just make sure the one you get is spec'd the same or close to the same as OEM or your O2 sensor's won't like it.

Overall, I recommend using OEM for some stuff and parts store brand for other. I use OEM lower ball joints, tie rod ends, alternator, power steering pump, etc. Stuff that has moving parts or needs good tolerances. I use parts store stuff for rotors, pads, air filters, pcv valves, belts, hoses, fuses, etc. Stuff that doesn't have internal workings or need to be well machined.
