Question About My Windows

While washing my 4runner today i realized something. Im sure everyone is familiar with the markings that are on the bottom left corner of all your windows. Well the windows on my passenger side have the markings backwards. All of the others are the correct way so that you can read them. I think they were meant to be on my driver's side? If this makes no sense i'll try to post pictures tomorrow. Is there any problem with them being like this?

Its in 07. It says Toyota and then has some numbers...its like etched into the glass, i believe as like an i.d. in case the truck gets stolen.

The numbers are part of the theft prevention system, not sure what yours would be backwards on the one window. I will make a note to check on my truck and see where they sit. On the drivers side window, they are lower right corner and printed to be read from the outside.

Interesting, just went outside and checked and mine are the same. Drivers side windows I can read fine from the outside, but passenger side windows are backwards when read from the outside. I've never noticed. Been fine for almost 4 years on my truck so I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine says

Toyota
Temperlite (glass manufactuer I believe)
alpha numerical marks

If yours says Lamipane instead, it could have been replaced at one point. My front windshield was replaced with Toyota glass and instead it says Lamipane rather that Temperlite like all the other glass. Windshield was replaced free because of a rock chip and paid with $0 deductible by insuarance.

Mine are like that. Every piece of glass reads Toyota from the outside with the exception of the three windows on the passenger side doors (front passenger and rear including the triangle passenger windows).

Early Lexus cars use to have Toyota marked on their windows. At least it's more subtle that popping the hood of an Integra to see Honda written all over the engine.

Maybe the glass can be used on both sides interchangeabley (sp?) and to cut costs?

That's what I thought initially when I went to check the 4Runner in the garage. But then I dropped that thought because of the water repellent coating on the front door glass. Unless the coating is on the inside too. The door glass does seem pretty flat that it can be used interchangeably.

Maybe it's time to check Partznet and see if there's two different sets of part numbers for each side.

That coating is only on the front, not the sides. I thought about checking part numbers, but I'm not too curious myself. Truck has been doing great like this for almost 40 so no worries for me. Feel free to check though and report back for the other members.
