Question about roof layers

I want to mount my cb on the ceiling above my rear view mirror. I know it wont obstruct visibility. I just need to know if there is two layers of steel up there. From my searching, it looks like there is. Just want to see if anyone has had the liner off and possibly took a pic.

Thanks!

Are you talking a permanent mount like this? (although this is a dual band antenna, not cb)

Oh gotcha, I'd be careful putting a full radio up there in the event of a crash. I have my ham radio up there but it is just a faceplate so it weighs only 3oz or less. I just used some construction bracket, painted it black, put a similar but flat piece of sheet metal on the other side of my headliner and sandwiched the headliner between the two. I wouldn't trust this setup to support a full radio though

I took my sun visor off to get an idea of how far separated the layers are. So poking around with a needle, it seems that there is only the roof above the headliner in this area. Darnit. Guess i wont be mounting cb here.

you can still mount it there. go to a autoglass shop and buy a tube of windshield urathane. glue your CB mount directly to the metal and let the urathane set up for 24 hrs.. then hang your CB up. that glue holds 3klbs per square inch when its set up...

Thats a good idea. Have to check that out. Thanks!

If you take out ash tray, were do you put spare change? :bluejump:
