Question about the 99 Roof Console Mod

I've got a 98 and was thinking about switching out the existing roof console for a 99 version. I was looking at the excellent writeup on 4runners.org when I noticed that he mentioned in step 6 you need to begin by screwing in the 99 mirror.

Has anyone done this mod? Do I need to get a 99 mirror in addition to the console. I saw a console the other day I might be picking up, but I want to know if I should be looking for the mirror as well.

Sorry to bump an old post but was wondering this very thing. Took everything apart and thank god I checked the mirror before I cut into the liner.

Do I need the 99+ mirror in addition to the 99+ roof console?

I used my stock mirror, fit fine. My only issue was that my roof console was of a different color than the rest of my interior.

From what I can tell the mounts don't match up. Is there something I'm missing here?
