Question regarding light bar.....

I am trying to wire up a light bar to my 4runner for use while offroading, camping, etc. I have installed a lot of things in my day but mostly on older cars and using harnesses. and such. I just want to make sure I am doing this right......
So I have a Pyle light bar and harness. I have it wired and installed already and fed the wire through the firewall. I did not want to use the supplied on/off switch because it didn't match my interior. I bought a switch that would match the interior but the wiring colors do not match up. So i am looking to install the wires onto the new switch and need to know how to connect. The wiring harness diagram is:

So I guess my question is, to what wires on the switch do I connect the blue and white wires on the harness. I assume black is ground and they are to be joined. Would rather not do anything to F it up so just seeing if any of you good people can steer me in the right direction.

No way to tell from the information you posted.

You need to connect the blue and white to green and red1, but it's unclear which of the two is source power... Easy to test though. Just connect up the other end of the harness and use a multi meter or tester to see which wire is hot. That one will go to the green wire on the switch. Red2 needs to go to your dash light circuit (I can't remember what color those are under the dash but a search should work)

OK so just got off the phone with a Pyle engineer. Black is ground obviously. Blue is dash illumination for when the dash lights are on. White is power. So I will attach black to black. Then Blue from the Harness to Red2 on the switch. The question becomes, I have an inline fuse and relay so which one of the wires (green or red1) do I connect to white on the Harness? I think that I would wire white from harness to red1 since there is a relay between the switch and light bar. The inline fuse goes from battery to light bar....

I am currently just using the one that came with the wiring harness from Pyle. It's a circular red illuminated switch that I don't like the look of do hoping to get a factory one

Take a look in my signature, follow the LED LIGHT BAR link, follow the link to the switch used. It will fit your knockouts.

Btw, I took it you were using a different switch as you showed a different plug.

OK, the top one is the OEM wiring harness that will attach to the back of the new switch.

The next 2 are the one that came with the pyle wiring harness.

So the factory red2 goes to the pyle blue, the black wires will get spliced together.....so the only question is which one of the two remaining factory wires will join with the white from the pyle harness. Apoloigies if i made this way too complicated.....I tend to overthink things but just want to be sure.

What he told you does not sound right. There has to be a wire going to the relay. It's probably blue. One will be hot all the time even when the switch is in the off position (most likely white) This is the wire you want to go to green on your new switch.

There is no way for that harness to deal with dash illumination (based on the diagram...). You will need to pull that wire from one of the factory switches as described above.

Go back and read my first post and the one below it. That is all the information you need. A cheap multi meter will cost you almost nothing. This will be required unless you just want to trust that the white wire is power. Considering he gave you other misleading info.. not sure I would run with it.

OK, so I got out my multi meter. White is hot when connected with switch turned off (lights off). Blue is hot with switch on (which also illuminates the switch button). Black is ground.

I have thoroughly confused myself but I think it would go like this:
White from Pyle to red1 factory
Black pyle to black factory
Red2 factory tapped into green wiper warmer switch
Blue Pyle to green factory

Am I correct in this?

Nope,

White P to Switch Green
Blue P to Switch Red 1
Black P to Switch Black
Green wiper to Switch Red 2

Its really simple (white is always hot) that is your power source to trigger the relay. Blue goes back to the relay. The switch is NormallyOpen. A relay is nothing more than a remote operated switch. It only requires a very low amp draw to activate it and can therefore use very small wires with concerns for heat or voltage drop. If you simply touch blue and white the relay will trigger. That is all your switch is doing with the addition of an internal light that activates...

It actually would have still worked reversed.. But it may have caused problems with activated illumination depending on the switch. Best to just do it as specified by the switch mfg.

Yup... I go with this.

My AOB switch is a bit different and had to play with it to find the correct connection. Got everything figured out. Now it works the way it suppose to.
 
Great, thanks again guys. I have the light bar installed and the wiring run. It's currently being used with the Pyle switch. Until the OEM switch comes I just have it hanging in the knockout. I actually mounted it to the outside of the grill. Using large metal washers and rubber ones sandwiching betwen the inner and outer portion of the grill, it works really well. I was somewhat hesitant to do so thinking that the plastic grill wouldn't be able to handle the weight but it is surprisingly sturdy. Just for peace of mind I have a zip tie around the center of the light bar through the grill as well to help alleviate some of the weight distribution.

I will post some pictures when I can if anyone is interested in seeing it. Thanks again for all your help.
