Questions about the FJ coil conversion and spacers

Rancho "quick lift"... I have not seen any feedback and know little other than they work the same way.

They only lift 1.5" or 2" I think. They're not height adjustable like the 5100s but they are ride adjustable.

You can buy the in cab remote and change them (drastically) from stiff to soft. I had a set on my old z71 but replaced them w 5100s.

IIRC they just started selling them as full sets w coils and top plates

They lift 2"

I didn't have the lifting ones, but I had the RS9000XL and they were nice shocks, 2.75" diameter. The range of adjustability was amazing. Rancho even replaced 2 sets that I broke for free. I had RS9000s, RS9000Xs, and even the newest RS9000XL, they are nice shocks esp. if you get em now while they have the in cab remote for free.

They broke because I had ~2" lift on the front and the (stock length) shocks I bought were overextended (I didn't tell rancho that). They didn't even ask me to return the old ones, just threw em away. I switched to 5100s because those broke too and bilstein had a 2" lift application, while rancho only had 0 & 4", both of which I broke.

I only got bilsteins instead for the 4runner because I already had the FJ coils and 2" more would've been too much lift.

Thanks for all your help everyone, I am sure I am getting annoying but I am a NOOB and am learning A LOT!!! I ordered the Bilstien5100's with the part numbers above from my friend at 4wheelparts, they will be here on Tuesday so I don't think they are on back order. He said there were 22 fronts and 5 rears in their computer system. After tax they were $389. I got lucky because while I was there there was another 4runner in the parking lot. It was an 03 sport edition 2wd, I asked the guy what he did for his lift and he said he installed the FJ coils with FJ shocks and added a spacer. I was glad he was there to back my idea up because the guys at 4WPs were kind of iffy about adding FJ stuff to a 4runner and they were not sure if it would work. I'm hoping I can get someone to help me install everything next week...if not I am going to have to spen more money I dont want to at 4WPs to have them do it. I can't wait to see the outcome!!!

Found a place that is reputable that will do the install for $330. Tomorrow I am picking up the Bilstein5100's from 4WheelParts and taking my 4runner to Krawltex to do the install. SOOOOOOO tomorrow is the big day, I will post pics ASAP

That still seems very steep, I bet they can knock it out in under 3 hours. However, if they're the only ones that'll do it (well, cheaper than the others) that's what you gotta do.

I am having trouble uploading pics but I absolutely love the difference in the ride and height of my 4runner after I took out XREAS and added FJ coils and Bilstein5100s. I ended up gaining a little over 2" in the front and 1.125-1.253" in the rear.

Before: Front Driver 33 7/8" Front Passenger: 33 3/4"
Rear Driver 35 1/4" Rear Passenger: 35 7/8"

After: Front Driver 35 7/8" Front Passenger: 35 7/8"
Rear Driver 36 3/8" Rear Passenger: 37 1/8"

I am .75" off in the rear when the gas tank was 1/4 full. Dont know why that is. I also noticed that my gas milage says I am now getting 23.2MPGs when before the changes it normally said 18-19MPGs, I dont know why that is either.

All in all I havent found a reason to not like the changes that I made. I just wish I could figure out posting pics. I have tried to upload them from photobucket too but it says the files are still too big.

You do not actually copy the image over from photobucket you just copy and paste the link. Once you upload the images to photobucket you just copy and paste the link that syas direct url or something like that.

Your ride looks great! Hope you enjoy it. I did mine with 810moto about a month ago and I'm still impressed with how good it looks. Just wanted to drop by to let you know that you could use rust-oleum undercoating rubberized paint on your tire wells to make them look brand new. It makes a big difference! Thanks 810moto for the help and the heads up on the rubberized paint.
