Questions That Shouldn't Be Answered

I just posted over in another thread about this and thought I would start a thread about this topic. Sometimes enthusiasts get "over zealous" and the line blurs between fact and opinion. With that said the following is the beginning of a list of Questions that shouldn't be Answered as Fact:

Best color
Seat comfortable
Enough Headroom
Will my tires rub/go in mud/rock/snow ride smooth/noisy/handle
Best: shock/spring/UCA/grease/oil/speaker/head unit/storage/rack/wheel/lift height
Are the head lights good enough
Does the 4Runner have enough power

And the list goes on. The above questions will never get a consensus. What others can you add?

EDIT: Of course people are going to continue to ask these questions! And they will continued to be answered as fact when, realistically, they are nothing but someone's opinion. I started this list as a tongue in cheek post in jest. Alright people-who-take-things-way-too-seriously?

Agree, in concept. However, I'd submit that the title should be "questions that shouldn't be asked".

Because as long as ANY question is asked, someone will feel qualified to opine, and will.

More so, the people that will be asking these questions, are they going to look for this thread and comply? :shrug:

Ha! I see a sticky entitled "do not ask any of these questions".
 
without these questions being asked, there would be no discussion, with no discussion there would be no information, there would be no need for a "forum". how is someone supposed to even start to come to a good decision without any good research or discussion.

also companies,design,availability,better options,new info, etc etc etc always come along and need to be reevaluated and discussed.

my point is without stupid questions there would be no good answers and we wouldn't know anything.

this is awesome. Definitely shouldn't be asked/answered it has been hashed and re-hashed on a constant basis of what will fit and what will rub and the easiest methods to alleviate it.

i guess this is the one i see the most in the most threads

i don't think he is bashing "stupid" questions, just most "stupid" questions have ALREADY been asked and a simple search of "5th gen..." will yield you what you seek or a thread you can add to instead of a rush of new but REPETITIVE threads everyday about how your specific tire and suspension setup is different and so out of this world that you just have to ask if it will fit/rub/etc.

agreed people do need to stop being lazy and search more. thats what ive been doing non stop for 2 months. you should see my amazon wish list :crazy:
that said im so glad people asked some of those questions repeatedly so i can search through and read all about it and see how opinions, options and knowledge has changed over time..

Perhaps all that needs to be taught is how to use the search function effectively.. as in how to search for what you want and not pull Gen 1-4 if you want Gen 5 stuff, etc.

Yes.

Did I find an answer to what I was looking for before having to ask?

Not always

I typically just jump onto google and hit up my search of the forum from there.

However I do feel like telling people not to ask certain questions in a forum is like telling someone not to shit in a public bathroom but only piss. :eyebrows:

you know we need? we need to be able to search 2 and 3 letter words/acronyms.. i mean wtf why not? i cant search fox, rci trd and the list goes on and on. so annoying
 
By using the search function, the new guys don't look at the date and they're asking the op about something that happened 4 years ago.

Before reading down to this response, this was exactly my thought after reading the OP.

Once everything but empirical facts is eliminated, it would seem there isn't much left to talk about.
