Quick-question-quick answer needed

I am about to take the T4R for its 5000 mile service in about an hour and have a quick question. I know that tire rotation is included in this service and was wondering- does this mean that they will be re-balancing the wheels?

No they will not I dont believe. Do you have any wobble at high speeds? Then you will need to get them balanced.

KHOPEM5- No, I do not have any wobble at high speeds. So, just rotating the tires will not cause any problems that would necessitate a balance?

I just did tire rotation, but they didn't do any tire balancing. Since then i drove on higway up to maybe 75 mph - didn't see any problems.

ChetJ- No I was just saying if you have a wobble then you should look into balancing and alignment...rotating the tires will not affect anything

Just to throw a monkey wrench into what is a normally correct statement, there have been times that a rear tire was out of balance, but not noticed until rotated to the front where the vibration was felt in the steering..... just be on notice, it COULD happen, not to say it will.

Tire Rotation

I asked the same thing at my Toyota dealer and they NO - the tires are only rotated not rebalanced. My experience is that the rear tires usually wear better and due to that they are "more round" when rotated. Sometimes you pick up some additional noise when the tires are wearing differently but all in all no vibration issues IMO.

Do you think the dealer will rotate my tires if I've changed the originals to Cooper AT3's ? I did not buy them from the dealer.

Ha, of course they will. Do you think most of the people doing the work even know what tire came on your vehicle, or any that pass through the bay. How is that specific tech to know you did not buy the tires from them? You could put bagels on the rims and they would rotate them for you. They don't care, they are getting paid for it.
