What are the odds that I have had two bad reman rack and pinion units from the same retailer, and both were from different brands?

It's one of those parts that are best left to OEM only, such as the LBJs. It's even more important with a steering rack because it is such an involved and lengthy replacement.:smash:

You just learned the hard way on this one. Like RS Dude said already, OEM is the way to go for steering racks. Yes, it's more money, but what's your time worth removing and replacing crappy quality steering racks. Go OEM and be done with it.

this is a problem ( thread/complaint) that comes up over and over again. Problem.....not OEM
search and you will see

Some members will read the threads and still go the non oem route for critical parts.
The shocking parts is...they are shocked the non oem low grade part cr*ped out.
OP, read the threads. They are loaded with valuable information. What to do right to our rigs, and what direction NOT to go to.
It will save you the headaches in the long run. Good luck.
