Radio hums when headlights are on?

Search turned up nothing...

Has anybody else had this problem? My radio hums whenever I turn on the lights. The volume of the hum is independent of the radio volume, in order words it stays the same whether the volume is high or low. It is the stock cd/tape double din sized radio. Thanks! -Ryan

Usually an indication of bad grounds... Since it's factory it's most likely not a bad connection, but it wouldn't hurt to pull the unit and do an inspection. Also verify ALL battery/alternator connections are good. A bad rectifier in the alternator can cause this too... If you have a DVOM measure AC voltage to see what you have ... I'd say anything .5v and up is excessive... Beyond that I'd say the radio is bad

Thanks, I'll start there and see what I turn up. I need to pull the climate control and send that off the guy on eBay that repairs them anyway so I'll pull the radio then too.
