Radio on with key out

My kid just love seating in the truck in garage and listen to music.
I feel uncomfortable leaving key in ignition. is there a way to modify electrical system so radio stays on with no key in ignition?
having a timer to limit it to 30 minutes or so would be awesome but not required, he usually bored in 15-20 minutes anyway.

you can just run it to a constant on instead of a switched source..... personally I would just buy my kid an IPod or radio and call it a day.... or you might come out to s dead battery

THank you for your input, he has an ipod, it stays in house most of the time.

I think the easiest way for you to tap in to that accessory wire is at the ignition switch (red wire), but of course you can probably try taping it at the radio as well...check out these charts below that I posted in another thread, but I'll repost them here because I am nice like that

It's for a 2012 4runner w/ nav, they should be accurate for the most part, but please double check with a meter before cutting!

Forgot to add, that timer chip you found seems like it should work, but make sure you only use the output to drive a relay and not the accessory wire directly; it seems to have a pretty low current rating and only strong enough to actuate a relay. Good luck and please post up results!

There will be some current draw when off or you forget to shut it off. End result - dead battery.

current draw when off is negligible, with timer I can set it and forget it.

2012 T4R LTD PTS wiring

Hello,

I am having a hard time identifying the wires /plugs for a 2012 T4R LTD PTS ( IGNITION, STARTER, ACC,...) . Came across these wiring diagrams and still confused. Can anyone help identify the IGNITION SWITCH using attached picture ( actual car) ?
