Radio Upgrades... Let see them.

Kenwood 9702s with xbox live and chromecast.

Upgraded awhile back to the 9702s and use it for music videos and Xbox live while adventuring in the mountainous trails of western and northern maine. Overall great sound quality, using a kenwood 1000w amp and kicker comp 12" subwoofer overkill but I got it tuned rite next is the door speakers and tweeters.

Alpine iLX-007 with Apple CarPlay™

Alpine iLX-007 with Apple CarPlay™. capacitive touchscreen and the unit is made in Japan. strictly for folks with iPhone. does not have many fancy features like other Pioneer or Kenwood HUs, but Carplay works extremely well in this specific unit (does not crash or freeze up like i've tried on other decks). love the fact that i could talk to my 4Runner via Siri and is able to see the map on the screen.

Maybe a stupid question... But is that a dash kit or does the wood look come factory in limitleds? I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question but I had to ask because it looks so good! If you did it, what and where did you get it?!

The dash kits are out of new York on ebay. Quick shipping as well. Heavy duty have a lighter color in my 6th gen 3.5 camry over a year now from same guys and no issues 4runner is only 2 months in my hands.

Dash Trim Kit Fits Toyota 4 Runner SR5 2006 2007 2008 Wood Carbon Aluminum | eBay

Clicking item description will show you the actual diagram of what is included. And color options available make sure to note to seller when purchasing of your choices.

I've been searching for a way to mount my iPad and am intrigued with this setup. I saw the link you posted for the Scosche MAGDMB MagicMount and have spent some time looking at the Scosche website. Are the two mounts pictured above attached to your HU via 3M adhesive?

I enjoy my pioneer double din AVH-4400BH and paid extra for the nicer mount that looks factory.

I do however want to change it out again for a unit that communicates more effectively with my phone. The pioneer was made more for the iPhone instead of android. Considering selling it.

Now my focal speakers and deadening made a huge diff in sound.

Still haven't installed my amp but eventually I will under the passenger seat.

Tablet mounting

Thanks. Not sure I'm ready to ditch my CD changer, but I like the position ... just need to figure out a way to mount it there without permanently attaching the mounts.

Ideally what you could do I search high and low for a loose fitting plastic case or have one cut with a Dremel to allow power hardwired in the truck and just be able to snap the tablet out when you exit vehicle. This could be achieved relatively easy however you'd need to find a single din radio with good sound quality to relocate to say under passenger seat. For aux.

Thanks for the suggestion, but you lost me ... I'm not sure I follow the single DIN radio?

Ottonavi for the win!

Had the Ottonavi for a while and I love it. Very plug and play and they give you all the stuff that you need.
Cheap also compared to some of the others.

Bluetooth on the new units works great along with calling.

Navi works but is outdated (doesn't understand traffic)

They give you a bypass to illegally watch movies while driving

rearview camera is easily installed.

pac audio RP4.2-TY11

Anyone here use the pac audio RP4.2-TY11? This is a newer module that has nav steering wheel control and the jbl synthesis harness all in one. I installed this with a pioneer avic8100nex in my 2004 sport and have been having issues with the sound cutting out on me randomly. Once it cuts out it does not come back until the car is turned off.

I've been going down a rabbit hole with these android units. There are so many types and variations, but it would definitely be useful to get one. I just don't know where to start.

I do really like that one. It has a very stock look. I also assume that would be the only size that would fit. Maybe a 7" would, but I've read that the measurements don't always match the US spec for double din.

My other problem is that I use spotify and offline playlists a lot, which none of these reviews will show even though the spotify app is installed.

Do you own it?
