Hey guys new member here.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but going for it.

I have an 07 sr5 and looking to replace the stereo and speakers. Been researching a lot but cant find an answer. So on the front doors it is a 6x9 and a tweeter and there is some sort of crossover that makes putting a tweeter weird, and having an aftermarket 6x9 may feed bass to that tweeter on the 6x9 (2 way speaker) How can you do this without having issues as i want to put an aftermarket tweeter there but i dont want to go component if i dont have to. i know you can get tweeter adapter for the wiring on the stock tweeter from tacotunes, but the videos are for components if that makes sense. Anyone help me make some sense of this. And system is non JBL and it will have a new head unit.

I'm confused too, I would think that just plugging in your new speakers while respecting the crossover, you should be fine. As far as having a separate tweeter, I think you have no choice but to go "component".

So with the JBL, you HAVE to bypass the amp, there are kits and Crutchfield should have them. Call them to see exactly what you need. As far as speakers, you might not need them, but they are always a good idea :thumb:

I used this adapter to install a pioneer nex head unit with the factory jbl amp and speakers. Works great, but I might consider the idatalink maestro if I were to do it again

So if I want to replace the tweeter I need to go component?? And if I got just replace 6x9 will I have to worry about the tweeter on the 6x9 sounding like crap as it is trying to play 6x9 frequency

For those of you with and aftermarket head unit and the JBL synthesis, does your fader settings work? Can you adjust the audio between front and rear? A friend of mine got a cheaper end head unit on Crutchfield with the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface but he said his fader settings aren’t working. I ordered a the same wiring harness but with an Alpine ILX-W650 and am worried the fader setting won’t work. Just wanting to know if anyone else has that wiring interface and has working fader settings.

I installed the Alpine with PAC and the fader does not work. Crutchfield rep told me the same before I purchased.

Last week installed a Pioneer MVH-1400nex. Bought from Crutchfield and got them to do the wiring with the steering wheel controls. My T4R does not have the JBL system so I got the PAC steering adapter. Crutchfield did the wiring well, just note that you may have to program the PAC unit to your liking yourself. It took my father-in-law and I about 15 minutes to figure out how to program it, but we got it done. One thing that sucks is that you need to press a button on the PAC unit to program it, so your headhunt is going to have to come out to reprogram if you want the buttons to do something different.

Since we are going to use mostly Apple Carplay on this thing I programmed the buttons like this: Vol Up, Vol Down as normal, seek buttons for track next, or track last, and mode I made a long press be the voice button so Siri comes up when I hold it down.

Also, Crutchfield does not include parking brake wiring or a bypass so I had to get one of those and wire it in so that all the menus could be accessible.

Then I took an Add-a-Circuit and plugged it into the accessory spot on the fuse box to wire up the power only for the other port. Works well for now with CarPlay and power

Question about the Add-a-Circuit. So when you plug your phone into the accessory USB plug in you have, it automatically makes it attach to the carplay? I have the USB already that I installed, but sounds like if I get a new head unit I could maybe connect the two?? Looks nice!

I am also having issues with the steering wheel controls not working. The PAC RP4.2-TY11 is receiving a signal from the steering wheel because it lights up when I press a button, but the head unit doesn’t do anything.

If anyone has had experience with either of these issues please let me know if you were able to fix them.

no experience with jbl system, but your suppose to turn the volume all the way p on the stock unit before the install.
for the steering wheel remote, did you make sure to set the jumpers and selector to the right radio?
i think on youtube, look for fivestarcarstereo , i think they did a 4runner.

Installed an ATOTO A6 Pro Android HU for Toyota along with a Pioneer sub that fits in the factory box. Factory SWC and backup camera are wired up and working. Everything works perfectly and I'll also be getting an adapter to use Apple CarPlay.

Installed the same one in mine, ended up buying an open box off Ebay for $180 +10% in Ebay bucks, also bought an open box adapter for around $35. Really clean install since it fits perfect without the side trim.

I think it has to do with the jbl amp digital signal.

Dual Amp Setup

Hey guys,

I replaced my head unit, amp and speakers 3 years ago with a 7-speaker system I pieced together. The specs:

HU:
Kenwood DPX502BT It was the cheapest good-looking 6 channel amp I could find. I did not have the budget to spend on a touchscreen at the time! The only complaint I can even think about is that the screen is dim mid- day.

Monoblock Amp:
JBL GTX500 500W. Cheap, reliable and high enough power for me!

Subwoofer:
Kicker CompVR 43CVR124 12" Dual 4-ohm. It SAYS its rated for 400W, but I can drive my amp all the way to when the protection circuit kicks in before the subwoofer begins to sound overdriven, so either the amp is over- rated or the sub is under- rated. If I had to guess, I would say it's the latter. Its real loud and sounds great

Box:
Sound Ordnance BB12-200V with like 3 Walmart $1 pillows in it. I had a cheap box before and buying this made everything SO much better. Sound quality and volume skyrocketed.

Speaker Amp:
Pioneer GM-D8604 it was easy to tune and can drive all my speakers as far as they can go. This thing has power on-deck for the price and I don't know what more I would need!

Front door speakers:
Kicker 40CSS694 6" x 9" Component Speaker System with Alpine tweeters (the Kicker tweeters didn't make it this far, the woofers did)

Rear Door:
Kicker C coaxials that just do the job and take power alright. The dont sound bad, just not the best

Attached is where I wired and placed the amps. Please excuse the text, it was an instagram story where I showed why my FL speaker cut out (for the first time in 3 years!)

Finished the install of my Alpine ILX-W650 unit I got from Crutchfield and I am very happy with it. I am using the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface and Metra 95-8210 Dash Kit. Basically, everything that Crutchfield recommended for a 4runner with the JBL Premium Sound System. Alpine requires you to hook up the head unit to the parking break in order to be able to access any settings so I bought a PAC TR-7 Universal Trigger Output Module for Video Bypass of Amazon to wire in with the harness and it works great.

With the PAC wiring interface, I was able to wire the steering wheel controls as listed.

Volume Up
Volume Down
Up Arrow: Next Track
Down Arrow: Previous Track
Hold Up Arrow: Answer Call
Hold Down Arrow: End Call
Mode: Mute
Hold Mode: Activate Siri

Next thing to do is install a back-up camera. The Head Unit has inputs for 2 cameras. I would like to do a second camera but I'm not sure where I will be putting it.

I purchased the Pioneer w4500nex, I’m not crazy about the looks but had the features I was interested in; wireless CarPlay, detachable face, phone mirroring (playing YouTube videos etc)
Also got a JL 8” to replace factory sub.

I flagged the ATOTO A6 unit, and have been reading reviews on it. It feels to me like they [seller, maker] are hedging on hands-free compatibility with iPhone and Androids of current gen. I cannot miss on this feature. Could someone tell me which unit can immediately connect/manage hands-free calling and voice-command features with modern Galaxy [or other fully compatible android devices] and iPhones?? No issues/workarounds.

my needs:
- hands-free calls: outbound, inbound, with no hassles. hands-free voice command recognition and response. iPhone and Android [Galaxy a must, other good brands LG, Pixel, other]
- Fits excellently into dash
- Bluetooth 5.0 and backward
- USB port on the face
- reputation for durability if such can be known

It depends on which stereo you have installed. If it’s the JBL and you want to use the stock amp then you need to get a amp harness. If it’s the regular Toyota stereo the unit comes with the harness you need.

1) They all pretty much do that

3) It has a BC6 chip for bluetooth, I'm not 100% sure what that means (what gen)

5) Durability? LOL, jury is still out on that, it is a must for me, but whatever Android head unit you get, try to stick with Dasaita, Joying, Seicane.

If you have JBL, make sure you tell them, you more than likely have to get some module.

I'm might get the linked head unit, but looking at a "tablet-like" model. The screen on the linked Seicane has the same screen as the OEM NAV (which is small to begin to with) and I'm starting to appreciate a bigger screen (would be nice to have).

The speakers I put in were Kenwood KFC-6966S (6x9") in the front door, and Kenwood KFC-1666S (6.5") in the rear door. My headunit is a Kenwood Excelon DPX593BT, and the amp is a JVC KS-AX3205D. The subwoofer I have is a Rockville W8T4-S2 (PO put it in). I also put in the Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter. Crutchfield's ReadyHarness made the job a ton easier, and everything else they helped with did too! They rock!

This thing sounds amazing, and as someone who has experienced 2x10" Crossfire subs @ 500W, that tiny 8" can pack a heck of a punch considering its size and price
