I wish I hit 18mpg. I've been looking at Pioneer DMH-2660NEX as well, looks good installed. What did you guys do for speakers? Any of you guys with the jbl?
Ha it’s only 18 because my computer had just been reset I get closer to 15... I’m running jbl club 9200cam in the front and jbl club 5020 in the back. Very impressed with the performance of the jbl stuff.

There are currently no harnesses for a 2020 model. Really disappointed I can’t change the head unit but then again it’s not that bad. It’s fairly functional.

Replaced the stock TomTom head unit with a Sony WX-920BT.
The stock unit purported to have bluetooth and auxilary input but none of it worked. On top of that, the TomTom was stuck in a boot loop, restarting itself over and over again and never loaded any maps or locations. It was destined to come out.
I installed this bad boy a few hours before heading out on a road trip. Ran into a few wiring color complications do to my 4Runner having the Urban Runner trim so things inside are a tad bit different, but they walked me thru it over at Crutchfield. I chose this unit over a Nav or touchscreen cuz I tinker with computers and I know how finicky they can be. I just need something to play music with as little headache as possible, and it does! This unit also features custom color coordination (to match the dash colors) and the lights pulsate to the music if you want.

Just replaced the JBL Nav stock unit in our 2008 Limited with a Sony XAV-AX3000, and I don't think it sounds as good as the stock unit did. Anyone else have this problem? Had professionally installed. Ugh
Did you anything other than the head unit for the install? A harness or brackets or anything? I’m planning on installing the exact same head unit after seeing yours. Thanks.

You can definitely make a Single DIN radio fit the stock location. You'll just need a dash kit like this one: American International TOYK975 Dash Kit

Yes, I also purchased the Crux CS-TJ20 from Crutchfield. They emailed me a Mastersheet and wiring guide. The wiring guide was great and helped me with knowing what adapters with the Crux to use and what to keep in the box. The best thing about Crutchfield is you can call them for support if you need it.

I recently upgraded my stereo to a Sony CarPlay unit. I had to replace the factory JBL sub too because it was blown. I noticed the new sub was overpowering the other speakers so I decided to change them. A lot of guys (advisors from Crutchfield included) will tell you that you need to go with 2ohm speakers, since that's the impedance of the factory system. If you replace them with 4ohm speakers you won't quite cut the volume in half, but it will be less.
The option for 2ohm speakers were pretty limited. I was considering the Infinity Primus PR9610cs 6x9 components for the front doors. I believe there's a matching set of 6 1/2 speakers for the rear doors as well.
I was also looking at some 4ohm speakers with high sensitivity. Though 4ohms is more resistance than 2ohm, speakers that are more sensitive can more efficiently use the power they are being supplied. I consider the JL Audio C1-690, JL Audio C1-650, JL Audio C2650, and the JL Audio C2-650X (rear doors).
The JL's I wanted were out of stock and I ended up buying Focal Integration ISS 165 components and Focal RCX-165 2-way speakers for the rear doors. They're also really high quality and have good sensitivity. I installed them recently and they're currently being powered by the stock JBL amp. Everything is very clear, very bright, and sub is providing good bass. I'll eventually install an amp, which I'm sure will really bring the Focal's to life.

HA! I'm finishing up the install of my Sony XAV-AX5000 right now.
It just went in an hour ago.
A month-long install overall, including new everything.
Head unit, speakers, amp, wiring, sound deadening, and sub, all new system.
All I've said the past few days is it better be worth it.
I'm exhausted from stereo installing.
Dang, yea that's a lot! I only did the head unit and backup camera. The speakers are good enough for me but I don't jam out too hard haha. I think the ax5000 is definitely worth it though, so much nicer.
What kind of sound deadening did you do? Before I got my runner I was worried about road noise and stuff cause I was coming from a 2014 lexus and I hate load road noise but I was surprised its not bad at all. I'm on stock wheels and regular road tires though so if I ever go with a beefier tire I might need to do some sound deadening too.

Nope, I installed one (AX5000) earlier this year, after being sold on the the Sony CarPlay stereos from having installed and used the AX1000 in my daughter’s Camry. The AX5000 is just a bit better in every way. Bigger screen that’s also capacitive, rear USB input for a cleaner look, etc. I love it so much, I plan to get 2 more of them for my Miata and Cobra. I’ll have to look into the 5500, as that wasn’t available when I bought the 5000. Having the backup camera has been a game changer for hooking up my trailers! I have the camera adjusted to see the top of the hitch ball, so I can position it dead on with my trailers, instead of having to get in and out while trying to get it close.
No pics right now, but I installed an Alpine ILX-W650. Capacitive screen is rad. Auto dim is rad. Screen color of backup camera is rad.
Not rad: rampant grounding issues in my unit. I originally installed it with just the factory speakers and things were awesome. Then about a month later I had time to install my system (2 4channel amps with door woofers and tweeters, DSR1 signal processor for a fully active setup). I spent the next two weeks scratching my head because I couldn’t get sound on the right side of the car! Result: the right side RCA channels are toast on a brand new unit!!!! Bought it from Best Buy instead of crutchfield like I normally would because I was in a rush before a road trip so now I can’t return it and I have to send it to alpine for repair.
Making it work for now because the DSR1 can take speaker level inputs so I swapped to that for now.
I saw grounding issues because now that I have the speakers working, I have an intense noise floor I can’t figure out. I tried several different grounding configs and all have the same results. My guess is the ground in the HU is wonky and it also what’s affecting the RCA outputs.
Really glad to see so many other people are super happy with the Sony and Ken wood units with capacitive touch. Might be swapping over.
In case anyone wants to see amplifier inspiration, here’s what I managed.
