otherwise.. wire harness' for an aftermarket wire up are around $5 and color coded for people like me who wear padded helmets at night :trophy: hahaha

Yeah, whomever installed the previous stereo must have been related to Edward Scissorhands! I am pretty meticulous when it comes to installing stereos in my cars and this one was pretty bad. I understand if you dont want to spend the money for a harness adapter, but for Akio's sake, at least leave the next guy something to work with! I had to pull both the front and rear seats, the center console and the lower dash trim to get to everything that guy did. Sheesh....

I need to convert to a fixed antenna. everytime I turn on my radio. clank clank clank clank clank vroom vroom vroom vroom vroom...then it's half way up. lol
time to fix it or convert :cool:

I actually have a power antenna that I pulled from my 280ZX when I shaved the body down. Im pretty sure it still works. Its yours if you pay for shipping or come pick it up, Im near Long Beach, Ca.

Sounds like a plan! I have yet to even touch the transfer case lever in this rig, I havent had the truck for more than 2 months and Long Beach doesnt exactly offer much in the way of offroad excitement...
 
I need some 4runner wheeling partners too....We should do a wheeling trip soon and Jonny I can bring those Manual Hubs too:beer:

Supposedly theres some decent trails in Acton. My Brother lives in Ridgecrest and he goes wheeling often (though he's got a Frontier, not a T4R). It would be cool to meet up. I'll admit that I am a novice but I'd love to learn more!
 
My 86' Beater did not come with a factory radio. It was a hand me down from an uncle, with a broken timing chain. I had the factory radio from my 93' T4R laying around so I decided to put that in.

My uncle had a cheap analog cassette radio with knobs installed, but it was not working. They did not have wiring connectors back in the 80's so it was spliced into the wires. I was able to get a radio kit from the dealer for $12, it came with the updated connector, brackets and pocket, since it was a double DIN.

I ended up replacing the the factory radio a few years later with a cheap Sony head unit with CD and iPod connector. All I needed was the Toyota adapter from eBay and it was in a snap. I also picked up a pair of Lightning Audio 4" speakers for the dash from Walmart
