Ram mount installation on dash trim

One inch ball mount, single hole.

Can you show a pic from the driver's side showing where you placed your hole in the trim for the RAM ball, and would you change anything about your placement having done it already?

I think this is the way to go for a phone mount in these things, it looks great!

I see you already figured it out but for anyone else looking at a way to mount their phones and tablets should look into the Expedition Essentials T4RPAM. I'm extremely please with it and is by far the most convenient mod I've done so far. It is extremely sturdy, adds a dual USB port for charging which gets rid of cables running all over the place, and the best part is how customizable it is all the mounts can be moved to 4 spots in the front or 4 spots (IIRC, its 4 or 2) on top. The downside is that it is more expensive, obviously.

This picture is from right after I installed it and since then have moved stuff around, including my phone to the other side of the radio power button so nothing is blocked and the cable is out of the way.

Where did you get the carbon looking right tube from?

Just installed at the top left of the dash. Used two fender washers on both sides of the plastic to add extra support. Doesn't block access to anything.

This is exactly what I did but just used a couple small bolts and lock nuts. It has been holding strong for over a year and tucks the phone in the perfect spot

4Rums did you try the above mount for the install? Thanks

I haven't had a chance to try it. Had a bout of analysis paralysis with the phone mount. I replaced my head unit and thinking I can fit something to the left of the screen instead.

Check out the iOttie too. Just got mine because I wasn’t crazy about adding holes. Seems pretty solid and can get the Qi charging as well.

Neat idea, N/A. Does it get in the way of any of the controls? (A/C, etc)

I was just using it for a phone, so not really. I then swapped it to hold the head unit for my VHF, which made it hard to get to the 4wd switch, but the ram mount can pivot so not really an issue
