Did you check your oil:gas ratio, the new VTEC 2 strokes can be fussy if you run them dry.

If all else fails, tumble the back seat forward to find the gas primer bulb (looks like the popper thing from the trouble game). You want to pump it two or three times, make sure the truck is on a level surface because you might flood the carb.

I'd pull the secret choke, it's under the trailer wiring harness, then pump the gas two times and set the engine to "ign 2," (hold down the EM STT button with a flathead screwdriver or a small coin).

If the MAINT REQD light comes on three times, you're golden.

I tried that.



Still won't start.
 
At the risk of falling for yet another April 1 joke today — my wife slipped a special napkin, you know the kind, into my sandwich — I suspect if you really did run dry, it's possible you sucked up some debris in the tank and the fuel filter may be clogged. Doubt you damaged the pump, but try turning the key on, let sit but don't start, repeat, then crank and crank and crank.
Without overheating your starter, keep at it, but do so in a place where you can keep a charger on the battery.
And don't make fun of me if I fell for the joke - I can only take so much ridicule in one day.

I heard if this happens you have to siphon gas directly into the carburetor because it tends to dry out and the primer doesn’t actually work very well because most people fill up when the indicator gets to 0. The best method is to use a garden hose and stick it all the way into your gas tank via the normal fill-up neck. You have to get the siphon started so just suck on the hose until just before the gas gets to your mouth then quickly put a thumb over it and let the gas drench the carburetor. You should be good to go then! Just don’t do it while smoking.

Back when I was 16 my 85 Toyota pick up did the same thing to me when I ran out of gas. I told my mom before I left home I needed gas money she told me the same thing I am not falling for your April fools joke. As she pulled up to me on the side of the road with a gas can in hand I told her April fools, I am out of gas. Needles to say she believes me now.

So when it wouldn't start after I put gas in it I jacked up the rear end so that the gas would flow from the tank towards the engine pumped the gas 5 times and then turned the key while my mom was turning the tire with her hand like a crank.

Works every time!:roll:
