Rattle/Knocking in Rear Cargo Area... Any Ideas?!

Thank god for this thread since that creaking noise is bothering the heck out of me!!
Tearing out the corgo cover tonight.

well mine has this same sort of rattle...started last week...sound like metal on metal...like the sub is loose or something...I have removed everything from the back and the rattle is still there...its driving me crazy...sounds like the truck is falling apart going over speedbumps...

I have been trying to look where that noise is coming from. At first I thought it was from the right front door. Last week I removed the cover and checked. Nothing unusual but made it a point to check the tightness of screws and bolts. Last night I removed and leave cargo cover in my garage. Loaded heavy stuffs at the back and 3 passengers with me. Noise seems gone. But on my way back, noise appeared again. Therefore, noise did not come from the cargo cover. Will check sometime today (again) and get rid of that noise

I have tried almost all of the things mentioned here except the roof rack (will check it later).

Didn't know a lot have this problem. I've been dealing with this noise for a year now. Although very minor - but its annoying !!!Hope we get a conclusive solution to it.

The rear seat latch where it contacts the metal hoop on the body is also a known source of rattles.

I have tried everything that everyone has suggested...I'm still getting this noise...over hard bumps...sounds like a bolt rattling in a metal tub...I thought it might be the glass in the rear door...but that doesnt seem to be the case....any other ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Squeaky noise

I had a squeaking type noise coming from the back cargo area of my 04 LTD.
Sourced it to where the small storage tray below the sub-woofer, meets the side panel plastic of the wheel hump. Plastic to plastic contact was the culprit.

well, after completely gutting the back compartment and breaking 2 clips in the process, I still cannot find the rattle...I love it...

well, I put it all back together...found nothing...I must say, I'm not very impressed with the amount of "rattles" the 4runner has...not at as bad as a GM...but still...I think the 4R could be better...the console w/map lights rattles, the moonroof used to rattle, something back by the sub rattles, something rattles across from the sub...ugh...its frustrating...this is my first toyota....I guess I expected a little more quality...so to feel good about the 4R again, I detailed the interior...see my post in detailing....

The only thing which rattles in my truck is the seat lock on the right side of the rear seat (big portion of the rear seat). I changed one at the dealer, but still rattles. I used to have rattling from the left side on the back, which come out of the loose jack.

it almost sounds if there is a bolt rattling in the bottom of the fender...but I cant get my hand down in there...I think I'm gonna rip apart the rear door next...
