RCI Skids Creaking

Wanted to see if anyone is experiencing the same kind of issues I am with my RCI aluminum skids. They seemed to be creaking loudly when either of my front wheels makes abrupt contact with a ledge. This mostly occurs off road and I suspect it's from when the chassis flexes just enough.

The plates overlap each other by design and I'm assuming that may be the source of the noise and may be fixed with some nylon spacers.

Haven't had any issues with my steel ones, have you isolated which one it is? I know the transfer case skid has had issues with noise, more from exhaust hitting it. How did you use those thick black washers they include?

No noise on mine. Aluminum as well

Various noises are pretty common when making abrupt contact with ledges. The LCA /UCA bushings will deflect pushing the wheels towards the body mount.... I doubt your skids are making the noise.

I thought that as well initially until I spent an hour with my mechanic friend on a 4 post rack manually cycling the suspension and was not able to replicate the noise. It only seems to happen when I have an acute impact to the wheels or if I slowly drive on uneven grades.

I have a 150 mile off road trip through Death Valley coming up so I am willing to bet if it's a UCA or LCA bushing it will make itself known. Just hoping that there won't be any sort of failure so far away from civilization!

You could always pull the skids and see if that eliminates the noise, then add them back on one at a time to isolate which one it is.
