The moment we've all been waiting for....running boards off tires on :bigok:
Looks great, glad to have finally taken the running boards off and lucky to have sold them within an hour of doing so. I'm still getting some bad vibes and road noise with these used tires after balancing and alignment at 38psi. I'm in the middle of trying to correct this issue.

Cell phone pics still don't do it justice. Let me know if anyone has any experience with vibes/noise with these tires that I described above.

Your 4Runner looks fantastic on the beach. I would love to find some 5 star wheels. I will be in the market for new tires soon. How much of a mileage hit did you take with the Duratracs? Are they noisy? I now have car-like Michelin LT tires that just won't die and I get 20 to 22 mpg! Car-like tires and no roof rack and excellent driving habits I suppose. :bounce: Be sure and get all the sand out of the back side of the rear bumper. Mine rusted out when I got lazy. Now fixed.

Thanks! I had a blast out there in the sand it was way deeper than I had anticipated which was great because it made for a little more serious off-roading. The tires change the look of the rig and the traction is great but as far as the noise level its horrible. Mind you I bought these used and one was worn a little unevenly, they also have a little over half tread left like 12/32 I believe its 18/32 new. Most people say they get noiser as they wear and I guess I'm in that stage, but people also say they are close to stock noise level when new. I think I might grab a set of hankook dynapro ats at some point but these will do for now. Just fyi I've had many ATs and MT tires and the way these run right now they are the loudest, but hey I still got ~21mpg on the way back from the beach which was great but city driving I have definitely lost at least a couple mpgs. Hosed the undercarriage down as soon as I got outta there. Good luck!

been a while since my last update...Roger Brown 1.5" bl went on about a month ago got it done right after dark with the help of [MENTION=81255]4ever4runnin[/MENTION]. Also got new Cooper a/t 3s they're awesome tires...aggressive great grip in the rain and i'll be getting to test snow soon, they're also silent on road and took barely any weight to balance.

A little bummed i stuck with the ~32s and didn’t make the jump to 33s but i got them for a great deal 550 otd with installation. The 285s were twice as expensive and weighed 16lbs more per tire that'd be a big hit in mpgs and power. When im ready to regear i'll definitely be making the jump.

My lbjs have been looking pretty shady lately and I've been paranoid so OEM lbjs and tie rod ends with all new hardware arrived today from toyotapartsbarn.com and I'll be tackling it in the a.m. PB Blasted the hell outta everything the last few days so I'm hoping to have no trouble there. Looking to add new front and rear sway bar end links to the list of repairs by next weekend too.

Thanks, I like the way it sits right now too but like most of us on here I can't help but to keep it goin. After thet 1.5" bl I'm sitting at about exactly where I'd like but the springs in the back are starting to sag so I'm looking for some lc 7.5 or 8 wraps (which is another reason why i feel like i shoulda stepped it up on the tire size but I think I can make it work for a while)

I'll be adding 1.5" wheel adapters (spacers) on the back and am looking for some 1.25" adapters to put up front. These wheels need to be pushed out some for a wider stance. The at/3s are totally silent on the road and stay planted, got to try them in both snow and ice this week and I'm very impressed. On my old jeeps I've had bfg kos, khumo road ventures a/t and bfg km2s then the duratracs on the runner and these tires are a contender to all in terms of all around road mannes and inclement weather traction. Still need a good test off-road

So keeping it simple is still important, but it must be capable too.

update

So real quick wanted to post the only pic I have with the bl on. I'll have to get more up soon. Here it is right after my buddy and I finished the install

Then this past weekend before the storm came I was able to replace my lbj's and ottre with all new hardware. The tie rod puller I rented didn't end up fitting so I just beat the hell outta the old lbj arm to get the ottre out. took like 20 minutes with a hammer and dead blow and when that thing finally drops...ahh success. The lbjs weren't as bad took a bit of pounding but with the jack pressing up on the joint they popped out without too much convincing.

I used plumbers tape on the threads as well as counted the turns when loosening so I could place the new ottre back on near spec. It worked but definitely still got an alignment afterwards

Steering is tighter again and I've got peace of mind. Looking into new sway bar end links now.

A lot of discussion has occurred on here regarding lbj parts and for good reason they're damn important. OEM is usually most expnesive but during my search I actually found them to be cheaper than some aftermarkets form a wholesaler toyotapartsbarn, $67 each side .

A lot of people ran NAPA Altrom lbj's and I haven't used them so cant say if they're good or bad...but they've never had a contract with YOTA so for such an important part I'd be weary running them... especially when they turned out to be $100 per side... thats 33 bucks more then what I spent buying OEM. On top of that apparently the manufacturer for the Altrom lbj's at NAPA recently changed and Altrom is just the distrubutor. To each his own...if you trust them and have had good experience then run them, but its oem for me

Yeah.. I was on the fence on the cooper atp/at3 or bridgestone revo.. Im glad I decided with he Revo. I actually got them for a lower price then the AT3.

I read reviews thet the coopers make noise halfway through their lifespan..

I had the revos replaced at 3/32 tread depth, with bad alignment wear and they were still quieter than my acura.


I never planned on keeping the 4runner.. I was going to flip it for a bit of profit.. but after lift and tires and all the maintenance i put in more money than the book/market value.

The onlything I have not completed is trans and diff fluids.. I hope I can keep this truck for a while.. Id be happy to reach 300k.. But that may take 5 years.

got a pair of synergey 1.5" spacers for the rear, looking for some 1.25" pair up front in classifieds

excited about the new gear, hopefully the weather cooperates soon so I can bang some of it out
