I get one of those cards in the mail every month or so, and my truck is just a black SR5 06...nothing out of the ordinary (well, except to me...I think it's great

They'll claim to give you way above bluebook, but the 'deal' is only that good if you buy a new car.
That said, I have heard of people having dealers respond to Craigslist Ads and paying a pretty good price. Though if my memory serves that was more for later year sport editions with relatively low mileage.

Its a gimmick. To get you in the door and into a car deal. If you had a rare 4runner they would offer to buy it out right. Without the whole you have to buy a car stipulation. Its kinda a slight of hand. They are going to get their money back from you in the fuzzy math of the deal. Regardless of what they value your trade at.

I got the same letters for a 5th gen as well. I too said F' that unless the 5th gen gets a V8 and a 7K tow rating.
We all know that will probably not happen anytime soon.
BTW, if I had kept all the buyback letters for my 4Runner that I received over the years,
I could have easily wallpapered the entire interior of my 8.5' x 20' car trailer.
As you can see in my sig, I must have a rare 4Runner as well. :wink2:

Really? You're going on about speed in a truck that would get is A$$ handed to it by my little 1.6L gas-sipping 35MPG-around-town car? I have news for you, isn't something I'd race off the line by any means...
Help us ALL if this turns into another v8 vs. v6 thread... just go see what they'll give you for the truck

Exactly. Dealers can easily sell used cars these days, and if they can get a new sale connected with it, all the better. A $6000 trade in goes on the lot for $12999.
