To the OP, find out what others are using for the typ of wheeling your going to be doing, find out what they like about what they have, what they DONT like about what they have.
get what YOU want, what works for YOU.
Do your research, and not just on here, look at other forums, LOTS of them.
Thanks Ric, always good food for thought. I have been researching on here and ghosting on yotatech since I bought my white 2wd 2 years ago. I think that the smallest 7 wrap lc's and coilovers seems like the best bet. I would really like to go with Toytec, since everyone who reps them is always so eager to help on here, but 100 bucks is 100 bucks. Thats diff drop and top plates and a dinner!..okay maybe a cheap dinner but you get the idea.

Wow, I dont know those guys or any of that stuff, but I read that entire thread and I think Steves decision to back out of the FJC market when he only had one product in an oversaturated market place was a good decision and gives him more time to deal with his #1 products and customers which are for the 96-02 4runners.
so yeah, he got some bad press on aftermarket parts for a vehicle he should have never supported in the first place unless he wanted ALL the way in...
but sorry, thats a little off topic for this thread,
PBcolt, yeah ultimately, make your own decision on what is best for you, It looks like you have been doing the research and the only reason I pushed the LC coils is that I have seen several people get the OME 890-891 and then get rid of them to "upgrade" to the LC coils after only a few months,
Its my opinion that the LC coils are the way to go for offroad, and even a bit softer ride than the OMEs'

I most definitely will. I'm just at the point now where I want SOMETHING done...I can read up on this for the rest of my life but my rig ain't gettin any younger haha

i only waited 3 weeks to upgrade to the LC coils if that will tell you anything. Also i have been to steves shop the guy is a pretty nice guy maybe not the friendliest person i know but wont steer you wrong. I have a co worker with the SS 1.2 and he loves it I went the ToyTec route because of the fact that i wanted to be able to adjust for when i get my front bumper built. i went with the 650 springs instead of the 600. I will tell you this toytec customer service is second to NONE they have very help full as well but when it boils down to it it is what you will be driving and running on the trails once my tires are on this week i with through up some comparison pics of the toytec with 891 and the toytec with LC you will see a big difference. also check the boards for LC i got mine for 40 bucks i could probably go them for cheaper as the guy wanted 40 for the hole FJ80 set but i just waned fronts

yep! lol I had a coil spacer lift for about 2 months before I upgraded to LC coils,
then the toytec adjustables.
you know, I never thought about checking the LC boards for used ones... how much did shipping cost you?? cuz I paid 40$ to have a muffler shipped and it was lighter and smaller boxed than my LC coils... at 40$ with 40$ shipping you are right at what Katy charges... shes right around 80$ total.

Yeah Irbis in Denver sells them for 50$ a pair if you can pick them up.

you guys cant get rid of me just yet. Still cant decide ome vs lc's. I thought I was set on LC's, but I keep finding all of these nick-nacks(sp?)...that people throw on with this lift and whether I need them or not. I know NEED is a loaded word, as many "get by" without these things. But I would hate to make a multi-hundred dollar investment in my rig, then have something break because I didnt spring for a 30 dollar part. Examples:
Panhard bracket ($40) vs Panhard bar ($180)
Emergency Brake thingy ($40)
Bump stops (whatever the heck those are) - ($..?)
Extended brake lines ($30)
I'm sure I'm forgetting things....Opinions? Opinions?
And if this stuff puts me closer to a g, then the 700 dollar 881/890 OME kit is looking more and more appealing.
..forgot I had a second question. I was going to buy the 3" toytec/eibach springs because I want to save money and I dont really need adjustability. Does anyone know if these will give me some rake (which I want) with my 7.75 and 7.5 wrap LC's

bump...with my 21st coming up on tuesday, it's present to myself time. I've been talking about buying a lift for a year, and now I just need to shut up and do it. I really like this guy's set-up Gerdo's Profile. - YotaTech Forums and with his trailer hitch and 220 pounds of load, it still sits level, and that's about where I'd be. I thought you had to use OME shocks for 890's...is that not true? And I also think I'm gonna pick up a 3rd gen bajarack.
I'll be selling my 7.5 & 7.75 wrap lc springs if I go with the 890's in the rear. The LC's would have given me a little more rake which I would like, but all the extras to do it right the first time make it not worth it.

None of those extras are required. they are all recommended but you can get away without them no problem. i have been running with my LC's since april and i haven't had a issue. you can bend down the tab for the brake line which will give it plenty of slack. thats exactly what i did and it worked for both sets of LC's that i have run (i think you have my old ones?)
bump stops just limit your flex.. stock ones are fine don't bother with new ones
i haven't done anything with my ebrake bracket
panhard bracket/bar is a good idea but you aren't hurting anything by running without it.
LC's or 891's if you carry alot of weight are the way to go :hungry:

890s a better all around choice trust me
Unless your back end has 300+ pounds in it all the time I can't in good conscience recommend the 891s. I had 'em-they were cool at first but soon every little pothole got old real fast.
The 890s should provide almost exactly the same amount of lift in the rear and are so much more rider friendly. They will of course compress a bit more if you are fully loaded down-but I would guess that is a rare occasion.
Just my .02- everyone's butt is a little different.

I've had an epic battle in my head between 890s and 891s. I've seen people like brian2sun and skydiving dude running 891s and brian said they might not be ideal, but will be bearable unloaded. When gerdo showed his rig with my same setup sagging at 225lbs over on yotatech, that did it for me. I HATE SAG! Haha. If it gets unbearable, ill swap em out for 891s and buy you a beer.
