Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Reset before hitting the highway, then miraculously hit 23mpg with easy highway driving. Came back to suburbs, did not hit reset, average now dropping to low 19's, expect to eventually hit 18.6 with my normal driving pattern, which is what I had before. 2016 SR5

On my 400 mile trip home after buying her, I got 25mpg doing 70mph the entire way. With 50/50 city/highway mix now, I average about 19 being easy on the throttle. It's much less if I'm having fun.

Pretty solid numbers as I get 15-17 city and 21-22 hwy with my 3rd gen but you guys have an 80+ more ponies and more weight to pull around. 5th gen is in my future so good to know it's still delivering solid MPGs for a brick.

The dash computer says 14.8 and my ultra guage says 15.2 around town. Don't get on the highway much. When I fill up I do calc. and it's pretty close.

I'm getting about 20.5 in all around driving, and about 17 pulling a little over 2000 pounds of camper and gear (not factored into the 20.5 number).

This is in a Limited.

Calculated over all fillups, as miles (trip odometer) divided by gallons at the pump.

Just took our 2016 TE non-premium w/o KDSS to coastal North Carolina and back with three people and a weeks worth of all weather gear. Averaged 21.5 MPG round trip mostly on I-40 on the way out, and I-20 on the way back.

Truck has 14,900 miles so far. We use regular fuel from "whoever".

Sounds to me that those that hand calculate the mileage are getting better readings than the on-board computer. Hopefully this mean that Toyota compensated a bit and gives somewhat false readings. Our driving is 80/20 city/hwy. Could be worse, could be my stock-ish 85 Land Cruiser that gets 10.5 around town and closer to 15 on the highway (calculated with gas buddy).

2016 SR5 with 285/70/17 on 3" lift. ~2000 miles. Average from hand calculation= 14.2 City / 18.6 Highway. Consistently these #'s since lift which was put on when new. I calculate every fill-up.

Not me. My on-board readings are very accurate.

Why such terrible mpg?!

Hey guys, I'm new to the site. I picked up a brand new 2016 T4R TEP about two weeks ago. I've been searching the forums quite a bit but haven't found much talking about mpg on a brand new car. So right now my mpg has been hovering around the 12.9- 13.4 range. This is around town in my one stoplight town. But I'm extremely disappointed I would have hoped to at least be up around 17. I'm not hard on the gas pedal nor is my wife. I've searched the internet but there's nothing consistent about wether or not it's only because it's new. And maybe once it's broken in I'll get better mileage? What do you guys think? I'm completely stock right now, however tomorrow I'm getting a set of duratracs put on and I know that's going to hurt it even more.
So anyways just curious with some input.
