Damn 9 to 5 job killing my mpg.:uzi: I did take a long highway trip and was getting about 19mpg, that was nice too see.

I just had my 5,000 mile service, I never reset the MPG calc on the rig. so my average over actually 5,250 miles was 18.3 mpg we'll see what the next 5,000 miles brings. my highway/city mix is about 60/40

We just picked up our 4runner so after our trip to Cuyahoga Falls in Ohio (from Western PA) we have about 400+ miles on it. Was just over 100 miles each way. Average highway speeds were about 67-75 mph with a couple wot pulls away from the toll booths.
I set the trip at the pump before we left so I hard calculated it and reset the dash readout... dash readout was about 18.6 and hard calculated was about 18.8 so it's pretty on the money!
Anything I've ever owned seemed to improve power wise and fuel mileage wise right around 5,000 miles. Who knows, maybe I will see in the 20s once I switch from the LE 20s to lighter weight 18s with a slightly larger OD tire to lower highway rpms

2016 Trail Premium with Icon stage 2 lift, 285/70 17 duratracs, shrockworks sliders, and GOBI stealth rack. I do about 50/50 city highway and am getting around 12.7 mpg according to the computer using 89 octane winter gas. I haven’t hand calculated yet though. I honestly think the GOBI rack is my biggest issue with the poor mileage.
Going to be putting on the SSO slimline bumper with synthetic winch on soon too so that is going to make it even worse. Thank god I live only 10 minutes from work!

You might actually be close to 1mpg better than that if you haven't had your computer reprogrammed for the taller than factory tire (if necessary on Toyotas, I'm not sure). Your odometer will be off by about 35 miles for every 1k you travel.

I have a '15 TRD pro with a gobi roof rack approx 35k miles on ODO, accelerate like a turtle off the line, per car computer I avg 18MPG. I'm probably split 50/50 city hwy driving. I used to avg 16.3MPG when I was heavy on the foot but I drastically change my driving style to really see how good of a MPG i could get. I've been avg 18MPG for the past few months now so I know I can be consistent.

Went out to Vegas and back with some headwinds (traffic in San Bernardino area) on the outward bound leg; might have been a tailwind on s/b leg but also had very little traffic. Kept cruise control at 70 MPH most of the time.
Calculated MPGs
276.3 miles 13.4 gallons Arco 87 Octane 20.6 MPG
276.4 miles 12.4 gallons Arco 87 Octane 22.4 MPG
Performed an odometer check of 11.0 miles versus GPS measurement of 11.2 miles so only a 1.8% error

I calculate mine off the pump and odometer read out as well. Ever since i put on the heavier E-rated 285s my mpgs took a big hit I was averaging around 17-18 mpg before the tires. Now I average about 15.6 or so. I also have a stage 2 Icon lift. So that probably contributes to it.

My Bismarck is all stock besides tires (Stock size BFG KO2 C-rated) that I run at 38psi. I'm doing mostly city driving and occasionally freeway and county roads. I'm between 20mpg and 19.8mpg on my display. When I jump on a freeway and run 70-75mph (speed limit is 87mph) I see the number shown on the display drops down. Getting on county roads and driving 35-55mph the display goes up. In a city there is no drop in mpg unless I do a number of very short runs (cold engine).
Of course I play "ECO light game", which is not difficult as most cars here are stinking diesels with displacement less than 2 liters (my 95 4cyl Tacoma has better acceleration than most cars here). I have to admit, that these diesels get 50mpg even at highway speed, but really ... I don't care about mpg when in full year I did 2.5k miles total. But for sure none of these "high mpg diesels" can drive across my field :bluejump::flipoff:

I think stock tire size is the key if you want to maintain halfway decent fuel mileage. I run stock size Hankook Dynapro AT-M, which are also roughly the weight of stock tires and I didn't notice a change in mileage. In fact, it's getting better since I think my engine is broken in a bit more (at this point, I don't think they've changed fuel blends here yet). Recently went from Houston to Dallas, and averaged just over 21 mpg hand calculated for a stretch of 150 miles or so with speeds between 70-78 mph.

Dang, man. What's your average mph on the highway? I do notice mpg is way better at 70mph than the 75-80 I like to drive at, but just curious what other habits you might be employing that are getting you such awesome mileage.
