Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

I just picked up an 18 TRD Off Road, but through a tank I've averaged ~21. Commute is usually back roads in the morning and highway home. I tend to drive lightly with my cars, although, and usually get over the estimated MPGs.

I just finished a 250 mi trip with some traffic and city streets, but mostly highway and got 21.2 mpg. I average about 15-16 around town. For reference, mine is an SR5 4x4 with TRD Pro suspension and FN wheels with stock size tires. I run 91 cause the truck runs better on it compared to the several tanks of 87 I ran, and every car I have owned before this ran on it, so I am used to the 20 cents a gallon extra cost. I figure over time the engine will be happier and any extra performance is surely more cost effective than an intake or muffler.

I do not know, I know it was at a minimum of 20mpg at 70mph during a recent trip, I just calculated it my head real quick when refilling. Around town not too bad, at least over 17mpg, again, just on top of my head when refilling.

As a note, this is about 6mpg less all around than my Edge with ecoboost got for city and highway. But I could get a solid 33mpg with the ecoboost at 55mph. Around town it was always 23mpg if I remember correctly, definitely not more than that.

About 3 1/2, almost four years later. I am getting a steady 21.something highway (doing 70-75mph), 17.something city. 37,000 miles on it. This is flat land by the way, Florida.

A six-week-old ORP and short trips in the MD suburbs is giving me... 17.5 mpg. And I'm not even driving it as hard as I usually drive because it is new.

On my regular commute i get 19.4 now, on an interstate road trip i get over 22. Mileage has gotten a little better since i hit 10k on the odometer b

2018 SR5 4wd..mostly stop and go in town driving (suburbs). This was only my second fill up, and the tank took almost 16 gallons, so there was still a good bit of fuel in there. Averaging 16.6 a gallon which isn't terrific but about what I expected for my kind of driving. I use the fuelly app to keep track of everything which is really handy.

2018 4Runner, got 18mpg combined stock. 17mpg combined after lift and tires. I'm guessing 16mpg combined after I put on the Gobi. Probably pretty close to 50/50 highway to local.

Pretty brutal for how painfully slow this car is, but I suppose you gotta pay to play if you want a badass looking go anywhere truck. :becky::becky:

2015 T4R Limited full time 4WD currently 14000 miles, no mods, stock setup combined city/hwy MPG average has been 18.7 on 87 octane and 18.9 on 93 octane for me.

2017 TRD ORP with lift, RTT, fully loaded for camping. Just finished an 800+ mile trip of highway & backroads and averaged 17.5 mpg.

1600 round trip miles to/from Denver - 15.0 MPG highway.

Speed limit was mainly 75 with cruise control set at 78.



The sweet spot for my 4runner is about 65 MPH where I can typically get almost 17 MPG. woo hoo!

According to my computer 18.9 - this fluctuates up and down within a decimal depending on if i'm trailing or going up hills (mountain passes really).

Another data point, since I've put on mods:

1. Falken Wildpeak AT3W A/T tires stock P265/70R17 running at 38psi
2. Rock sliders
3. Full aluminum skids
4. Hybrid/slim bumper without winch
5. 2.5" lift
6. Fresh alignment
7. Factory roof rack with crossrails
8. No interior load other the excessive burden on the driver's seat
9. Highway cruising speed 60-65mph
10. Petrol 87 octane with 10% ethanol content, summer blend

Results (calculated) for highway driving: 11.2L/100km metric, 21 USMPG, 25 IMPG

guess I have more wind resistance that the rest of you. get 11 mpg towing my camper, 13 mpg towing my boat, and 15.3 mpg towing my fat butt. :hungry:

That’s about what we get towing a standard sized Jumping Jack trailer on the highway. Took it from Boise to Dave Matthews at The Gorge over Labor Day and didn’t quite break 14. We get about the same as you with nothing in tow.

New to us '15 Ltd. w/ stock 20's, 16.75mpg city, 21mpg highway, 87 octane. I'm happy with this, it's much better than our GX470, albeit much slower as well.
