I just used a floor jack and jack stands, so no. You definitely have to lift it up though. A lift would have been great. I did cut three rungs off the spring bumpers (all I was able to do without removing the coils) and used a hot knife to do so. I did two to start since there are a number of write ups with differing opinions due to different lift coils vs. stock coils (mine are still stock) and that was definitely not enough. I may do the 4th since the bumpers are still resting on the bags pretty good and I think it's riding a little stiffer than it should without weight in the back. It's giving me about .5" or so of lift because of it and it still rides just fine, so I haven't bothered. The bags can be folded up and slip between the coils with the help of some WD40, armor all, or soap and water. Then just air them up and they'll go right into place. I have the nipple down and haven't had any issues yet. I routed the air lines to the hitch plug bracket and just drilled a hole there for the schrader valve. I should also note, this is with the Air Lift #60809 bags which are technically for a 4th gen. I think Air Lift may have another set for the 5th gen too, so you can do your homework there..

With the Fox 2.0 shocks I have and even the air bags at minimum pressure it handles weight so much better. Filling up the trunk with mulch, salt, whatever is way more controlled. When I tow my trailers (no more than 2500lbs usually) I put them to 20-25lbs and it's night and day vs. stock. Honestly, that 20-25 may even be a little high. Ideal PSI for my applications is still a work in progress.
Also, don't think you need to go out and buy onboard air or anything either. I keep a mini bike pump in the car and it works just fine.
