Rear bumper guard recommendations?

So my dad finally got his 2012 Limited Runner and now hes been adding a few things here and there, so far mud guards have been added, but the next thing on his list is a rear bumper guard.

He doesnt want one that mounts on to the whole bumper with brackets, but hes looking for a simple one (preference is chrome) that can bolt into the tow hitch.

Ive seen a few on ebay, we wont be doing any towing and never had a use for the hitch in the 4th gen thats why were are going the route of one that bolts on to the hitch, so has anyone used the ones on ebay?

Its more of a form over function thing, no ones gonna be using it as a step but it would be nice to get something durable.

Ill continue to google and check out whats on ebay and maybe see if theres a factory option for what im looking for, looking forward to any input!

Thanks!

Tell him I can weld him up s nice heavy duty steel one for a fair price...not the crap you buy at Autozone. I'll get you a picture if you want...saved my truck twice.

+1 I want to see what titanpat put together.

OP, has your dad looked into the superbumper?

Check out this thread for my backup lights...you can clearly see the unit.

I covered it diamond plate and painted it black because it matched my trim. I suppose you could use a standard pc. of aluminum, which may not look so utilitarian...but the diamond plate is non slip, and makes it easier to reach the roof in the back. The steel is 3/16"...pretty serious. I'm guessing it weighs 25 lbs.

Go Rhino! 360PS Polished Stainless Steel HitchStep for 2" Receivers : Amazon.com : Automotive

This is what he went out and ordered without me knowing, I told him Id look into it when I am home from work but he heard "i cant find anything your on your own" or something like that which caused him to go out and make that impulse buy.

Im not familiar with this brand but we just put it on and it rattles like hell in all directions he wanted something a but more fitting. Most likely gonna send it back and look for other options, titan ill be waiting to hear from you i myself am interested for sure ill run the pictures by my dad and see what he thinks.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, it is appreciated!

This looks pretty sturdy and nice looking:

I don't know how long it has to be though... if you want it to protect the entire bumper you may need to have one custom made.
