Rear Bumpers Interchangeable?

I have a 2007 and as everyone knows the reverse lights on these things are terrible. I'm wondering if I can put a '03-05 bumper on so I can remove the reflectors and install aux reverse lights. I know there are several threads on the replacing the reflectors with aux reverse lights but even with searching I haven't been able to find whether the bumpers are interchangeable.

Has anyone done this?

If you look at photos of the early 4th gens and compare them to later 4th gens you will see that the bumper cover and the wheel well cladding profiles will not match up even if all the mounting/attachment points do line up.

I wonder, can auxilliary back-up lights be mounted somewhere into the existing bumper below the taillight assemblies? Of course, cutting a hole in the bumper to fit the added light and wiring it into the existing back-up light...

I've seen this done but I was hoping to do something a little cleaner.

I replaced my back up lights with JDM found on Amazon years ago. Big difference.

you might be able to get a jdm 06+ rear bumper, they have the same reflectors as 03-05 rear usdm bumpers

and replaced my existing backup lights, huge difference. In addition I also mounted a couple LED’s to my aftermarket HD tow bar.

If you’re dead set on modifying, you can just cut holes your existing bumper and insert some flush mounted style lights. Seems like it would be easier.

How long have you been running the Amazon replacement bulbs? Any issues?

I would prefer not to modify but if I do I want something with a factory look.
