Rear diff carrier swap vs. rebuild

Hi all, i'm a noobie when it comes to this stuff so please go easy.
My 3rd gen 2000 rear diff (non-locking v6 5VZ-FE) is whining/whirring. Here's my question;
I have a locking rear diff off a '01 v6 Runner (For sale/swap in T4R.org classifieds). Can i swap out the innards of the good 3rd member into my noisy 3rd?
Obviously the e-locker portion won't fit in my non-locking but i'm wondering if i should even bother OR should i be shopping for a rebuild kit (bearings, shim etc.)
Note: trying to save some cash. Next to impossible to find a used 3rd member carrier (NON-locking) assembly in Toronto, ON Canada for less then $500
thanks for any advice, cheers

Answered my own question

Not possible. At least not worth the effort to me anyhow.
I'm in the process of replacing old pinion and diff bearings with new ones.
Don't bother trying to salvage from an existing diff. just replace 'em.
